Gets all the pet hair!
Most of my house is hardwood flooring but I have carpeted staircases with pretty long carpet. I got tired of hauling a vacuum to get the pet hair off the stairs and decided to try handheld vacuums. I tried several before landing on this one.ProsThe cord is long enough that I don't need to switch outlets at the bottom of the staircase. The silicone brush cover thing works really well to grab dog hair in long carpet. It holds a lot of fur and debris so I don't need to empty it too frequently (I can finish the whole staircase without pausing to empty it).It suctions strong enough that it picks up the fur and small pieces of paper and general debris. It's light and easy enough to use on my furniture as well.It does a great job of cleaning my stairs.ConsBecause the carpet on my stairs is so long, it requires a lot of arm work to get the dog hair out (way more than a standing vacuum but about the same amount of effort as any other handheld vacuum). The power button is on the tip of the handle so when I'm vacuuming my stairs and hit the right angle, I accidentally hit the power button to the top stair and turn off the power randomly.Overall, I recommend this. It does a great job. Of getting the dog hair. I tried several other brands prior to this one and this one did an outstanding job.

Great for cleaning pet hair from carpet
Other reviews have mentioned, this vacuum does not work well for cleaning pet hair off hard surfaces, and I can see where that can be the case, as the device is smallish and blows air out the sides, which could create havoc on hardwood stairs and similar surfaces. However, I bought it specifically to clean a lot of hair from 2 cats off of the carpeted stairs in our 3-story townhome. For that, the vacuum works great. There was a lot of cat hair on the steps that my regular vac was too bulky to get, and even the accessories for my full-sized vac did a poor job of getting to most of the hair. The pinkish nose on the Bissell vac, though, appears designed for just this job. Start at the 90 degree vertex angle of each step and slowly pull the vac toward you. Repeat until you've covered the width of the step, and then go back to the 90 degree vertex and move up to get the vertical side of the stair. It took me a while (which depends on the number of stairs and the amount of hair), but wow this thing pulled out a LOT of hair. Very impressive for its price range. It being corded was actually a good thing because no handheld vac would be able to have as much suction as this one and last as long as needed to clean the stairs. If you're not using it for stairs, there's another nozzle for furniture. I haven't tried that one yet. HOWEVER, I should note that the circular spring button that holds the nozzle in place is very easy to dislodge. When I was using the vac on my second step and pulling it up the vertical side of the step, the button popped off and the nozzle fell off. For a minute I thought the darn thing had broken, but I was able to snap it back in place. This did, though, happen a half dozen more times, which was frustrating. I found the key to help prevent this is to move slowly and don't press against the step too hard when moving up against the vertical faces (pulling back against the horizontal faces doesn't have this issue). But for that one caveat, this vac is perfect for its designed purpose- getting pet hair off carpet, especially for the low price. It also works well for carpet not on stairs, but it would take forever to vacuum a carpeted room floor; just use a standing vac for that. It works pretty well at getting cat hair off our carpeted cat towers as well. One more thing- make sure you PULL the vac slowly back toward you. Pulling is how it's designed to snag and suck up the pet hair. I watched a youtube video of a clueless guy reviewing this product who was desperately trying to PUSH the vac against his carpet for several minutes to little success and then declaring it was too strenuous to operate. I immediately thought of those people who keep pushing at a door to no effect when the sign on the door says pull. PULL, don't push.Overall, 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

Cat Hair Review
I have one white, short haired cat. He has the softest coat of any animal I have ever known, which also means his hair is impossible to get off of EVERYTHING! It floats in the air, it lands on everything & I have yet to find a lint roller that can effectively remove ALL his hair from my furniture, clothes, my life in general. And trust me I have tried a lot! I have 2 air purifiers in my 900 sq ft house, vacuum daily (I'm a bit of a clean freak) and still can't keep things cat hair free. So I bought this vacuum to add to my arsenal of cleaning items in the hopes of finding a solution.PROS1. It has great suction & does effectively suck in the hair on the spot you're targeting2. The cord is super long3. It's not heavy, easily can handle it with one hand4. Ideal for areas where you wouldn't be able to use a lint roller; i.e floor boards of your car. The holes are big enough to suck up debri other than animal hair.CONS1. Like most vacuums, the motor kicks out a blast of air. Which then stirs up the cat hair around the areas where your vacuuming. So your constantly having to go back over what you already vacuumed because the hair floats up & then settles back down.2. It's very loud3. It's more work than using a lint roller. Let's be honest, if you have animals, your still going to have a lint roller. You need them for your clothing. So while a lint roller is just as effective, it's not always doable for the blinds, or hair that sticks to certain fabrics & blankets. That's when the vac comes in handy. So this vac isn't going to be your one stop shop. But more of an addition.Attached a photo of my red cashmere & fleece blanket that I use while laying on my sofa. It's my fav blanket, which also means my cat likes to lay on top of it (and me) when I'm lounging. The left side of the pic; I used the vacuum. The right side I used my go to item; the scraper case for my Scotch-Brite Reusable lint roller. The scraper took me half the time & did a better job of getting more hair off the blanket. But then I used the vacuum to suck up all the hair. So while I'm not saying one is better, I think they work great as a team.2nd photo is of the hair that collected in the vac after using it on my blanket & my sofa. It's been about a week since I last did my usual cat hair removal.I just used this product for the 1st time today. So my review is based on that. I'll update later, if anything changes w/ the vacs performance as time goes on.
