Great value -Upgradeable needle if needed
I've been using the Audio-Technica AT-HS1 Universal Headshell, and it’s been fantastic for my turntable setup. The build quality is solid yet lightweight, which makes it easy to handle. Installing it was simple, and it fits perfectly with a variety of cartridges. The sound quality is noticeably clear and detailed, giving my vinyl records a richer sound. I also appreciate the design—it feels durable and looks sleek. If you’re looking for a reliable, well-made headshell, the AT-HS1 is a great choice!

Great purchase
Excellent product. Wires are correct and cartridge pin receptacles are very snug. Goldring E4 pairs up very well and naturally works perfectly with my Audio Technica turntable

Audio-Technica AT-HS1 headshell
Purchased Jan 2020 for $27. Since I did not see this information in previous reviews I wanted to show what is included (mounting screws, etc) and the headshell weight. The plastic blister package is recyclable (#1 PETE) and thankfully easy to open (not heat-sealed). Other than the cardboard placard there are no instructions or spec sheet included. Somewhat disappointingly only one set of screws are included with the AT-HS1 - a pair of M2.5 x 7mm long aluminum screws along with a matching pair of nuts and nylon washers. The AT-HS1 is clearly styled after the headshell from the Technics SL-1200 and even includes a threaded hole on the top of the shell to mount additional weights for club/DJ use. But at nearly 9.5g (with included wire set) the AT-HS1 is a bit heavier than the original Technics headshell (the SFPCC31001K is spec'd at 7.5g).The die-cast aluminum housing of the AT-HS1 has excellent shape edges and an attractive matt silver finish. The cartridge mounting slots allow a bit over 7mm of length adjustment for correct cartridge alignment.Unlike the similarly priced AT-HS6 the finger lever on the AT-HS1 has a nice sharp nub at the end which makes it much more secure to manually pick up.This is an excellent quality Technics styled headshell that is far less expensive than a genuine Technics headshell - but there are many similarly styled headshells for less money on Amazon that I may consider using next time.

Good quality - Good bargain - Worth purchasing.
I purchased this item, along with the Shure M97xE High-Performance Magnetic Phono Cartridge, for my home editing system. I’m presently taking all the LPs I have and digitizing them for my home collection. It performed OK, but I was a little disappointed with the hardware, as well as the construction of the finger lift. I thought Audio-Technica could have done a little better with the design. The shell is good looking, but the lifter appears “cheap”. I also wish it would have been available in a polished chrome finish. While the silver “wrinkletex” finish is nice, it doesn’t match the Audio-Technica AT-LP120’s arm. And while it’s not a deal killer, having it match would have made it look a lot better. The Audio-Technica AT-HS-1 Universal Headshell was a good value, so I would gladly recommend it again to anyone looking for one.

Instant improvement in audio quality
I tried replacing the cartridge on my turntable, only to get a bunch of noise from the poorly-connected wires on the headshell that came with the turntable. Replace the headshell, and instantly everything sounds so much better. Does exactly what you want, better than the OEM hardware, at a reasonable cost, with easy assembly. Just line up the wires with the matching color on the cartridge. Exactly what I wanted.

Quality is exceptional
Replaced after market head shell on my LP120 with this OEM head shell. Looks good and works great.

Nice headshell for cartridges!
I was looking to upgrade the cartridge on my record player so I needed a universal headshell. This was the perfect choice. I connected an Ortofon cartridge to it and it connected flawlessly. Yes, the tiny screws and connector cables can be a challenge, as with any of them, but have some patience, hook up the cartridge & cables, and then align it with a protractor and you'll be enjoying your records before ya know it. It's also great to have as a backup headshell!

Pioneer PL-540 + Audio-Technica Universal Headshell (AT-HS1) + Denon DL 110
The headshell had no defects and was easy to assemble to the DL-110. The plastic washers should be used with the Denon mounting hard ware to prevent the cartridge from moving when the screws are tightened. The AT-HS1 + DL-110 + PL-540 combination was not compatible. The AT-HS1 causes the tone arm to be tilted upward when playing a record. The PL-540 does not have a arm height adjustment so it was impossible to make the tone arm level when the cartridge was on the record.I found the Ortofon SH-4 headshell keeps the tone arm closer to level with the Denon DL-110 and the Pioneer PL-540.
