Wildlife of South Africa: A Photographic Guide

I bought the Kndle Version and view it on my IPad Retinal Screen.The text is very brief. A map shows where the animal or Tree etc is found.It tells you how to identify the wildlife in question.There is a very brief description of the creature's life and a good photo.The text runs fron 5-10 lines and runs continuously-- ie well you go to a paticular page you may need to flip back to the preceding page if you are in countering a creature you don't know.Mammals,Reptiles,Birds, Frogs and TreesI find this guide excellent to flick through to try and learn the difference say between this or that Antelope. I turn to larger books when I want more detail on the object being studied

This was the best resource for South African wildlife. I used it many times! Recommend it to others.

I purchased this before a trip to South Africa. A very good guide with accurate photos and lots of detailed information. It was helpful to go back and use the book to ID the animals in the photos I took (not all of them were as easy to remember as I would've thought).

A great book for animal identification. I originally bought this book in Africa and it was invaluable for identifying the wildlife, somewhere near the end of the journey we lost the book and so I ordered another to my home in Australia via Amazon.

Excellent reference! My family and I just returned from South Africa and we used the Wildlife of SA all the time. I really liked how it not only had animals but also birds and explained about different types of trees as well.

I used this book extensively on my recent trip to South Africa and found it to be accurate and extremely helpful in identifying the wildlife I observed. The pictures of each animal are clear and very helpful.

I was so disappointed....it evidently only works when connected to the internet. I tried to use it when on safari and it crashed repeatedly. I didn't think to try it the few times I was in hotels with WiFi. It works now but I wanted it out there in the bush:-( It has good photos and info. Took me awhile to understand I had to scroll to see the info.

I was disappointed. I just came back from Africa and felt that it didn't show as many animals as I wanted to see. A couple of Monkey species for example but not many as I expected.

My wife still looks as this as a reminder of our Safari trip when in South Africa. A good book to have before and after the trip or just for general interest.

For a newcomer to wildlife in South Africa this was good, allowing identification of most species. However, it does not have butterflies.
