The WeMos D1 Mini family of boards is one of the latest additions to the ESP8266-based IoT ecosystem. The WeMos D1 Mini Motor Shield allows you to drive up to two DC motors or one stepper motor from your WeMos mini or mini Pro development boards. The WeMos D1 Mini Motor Shield is designed so that pins D2 (SDA) and D1 (SCL) are connected to the TB6612 motor driver I2C pins onboard. The I2C interface of the shield can be configured using solder jumpers to one of 4 I2C addresses (0x30 default). Using PWM the driver is capable of independently controlling the speed and direction of 2×DC motors or 1×stepper motor, with a maximum average current of 1.2A (3.2A peak). Without much fuss, it's very easy to connect, control, and monitor a wide variety of electronic components to the ESP8266.
