five stars but a few caveats....
First, the good: (We are going to use this pump to power the water flow in an off-the-grid swimming pool we are building.)I set up the pump for a test yesterday, to make sure it was working before the return period expires. This pump rocks! Nice soft start up, and then it really puts out. Filled up a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket in under two seconds. It's quiet, too. There are a couple of things not in the description that are worth mentioning: inside the controller there is a rotary dial, which lets you control the exact output of the pump. The pump comes with a very nice base for Mounting. The controller box is metal, the door has a gasket seal, and overall is very heavy duty. The company is very responsive when you contact them, so they are closely monitoring the Amazon site… At least for now. Now, the caveats: the whole thing came in a cardboard box with various plastic parts, like the inlet and outlet to connect to PVC, just randomly thrown in. Packing is definitely not their strong point, but maybe I got one that somebody else had opened. I was worried that perhaps something had been damaged in transit, but, like I said, everything works great.Apparently this company makes several kinds of pumps, including cylindrical submersible pumps. Even though there is a picture of this pump on the cover of the manual, the manual, the instructions are actually written towards installing a submersible pump, not an above ground pool pump. You just have to read through the submersible part, and figure out which parts of the instructions apply to his pump. The company makes several different of these pumps, with different horsepower and voltage ratings. Be aware of that, if you want to attach a separate battery bank and have the controller charger charge it, you can only go up to the 48 V pump. The controller that came with my 72 V pump does not accept a battery input… The connections are just not there.

Great value for a off-grid solar install
I bought this pump to install with a couple of solar panels in order to stop paying for the AC pump to run. The pump runs a little slower than what is advertised, but thats fine as it will run for nearly the entire day. Make sure to plan for extra wattage- the 500W pump really needs 750W+. I had to tap out the screw holes on the panel and make a mounting bracket, but that was pretty minor. The rest of the setup was smooth, although I had some initial startup issues that were resolved with their customer service group, who was great. I installed the new pump in parallel with my AC pump with valves between them in case I need to run the AC pump, although I don't expect to.

Great product, Greater customer service
This pump has proven to be everything I wanted and possibly a little more than I needed. Opened the new pool April 1st 2021 closed down for winter November 15th 2021. Very powerful unit (900watt 72 volt). Monthly operating cost $0. Monthly pool maintenance approx 6 hours total (vacuuming and testing water chemistry). Near the end of summer I needed help with an issue, contacted the email in the front of the controller and within 24 hours I was in contact with Tony using what's app which allowed him to provide the best customer service I have ever experienced in my life and my issue was resolved immediately. I highly recommend this product and seller.

Caveat emptor - The specs are WAY over inflated
I purchased the 500W pump to replace an existing 1.5HP 120VAC pump. My in-ground pool is small, only 9000 gallons. My setup is as follows:16 X 100W solar panels connects to 2 grid tie inverters. As a result, I run the MPPT converter off of a DC power supply (rather than solar panels). When I first contacted the vendor, I was instructed (by them) to purchase a 48VDC 700W power supply. I did. As I connected the power supply, I made sure that the potentiometer inside the MPPT was turned all the way to max output.Time to test......I noticed that the water coming off the jets pump did not have a lot of power. So I decided to quantify the finding. I assembled an Arduino board connected to a 2" water flow valve to measure the actual GPM. To my surprise, I was only getting 15-25 GPM! Note, the 500W pump is being advertised as Solar water pump, 3/4HP, 48v DC, 49ft, 75GPM.I contacted the vendor who told me that I should be using a 72VDC power supply (and not a 48VDC power supply!) So off I went and purchased a second power supply, a 72VDC 800W. Swapped and power supplies and guess what......... NO CHANGES! $100 down the drain.I tried one more thing. I split the output from the sand filter (running at about 10 PSI) and added a second water flow valve:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MY6JHNR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1I connected the second water flow valve to this:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WPY98LJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1and doubled the reading for both the above flow meter as well as the arduino (since now each leg is only seeing half the volume). Again, getting 15-25GPS from either meters.(Note: as you can see from the attached pic, the meter displays 32LPM which when doubled and converted to GPM yields about 17GPM)Backwashed the sand filter to make sure there were no significant sediments. Again, no changes!Using an average of 20GPM, it will take about (9000/20)/60 = 7.5 hrs to filter the entire pool once.Net:The pump does work but just be aware that the specifications are grossly over inflated!!I guess they must have conducted their "test" in out of space with minimal gravity and no filter attached! For those of us who live on planet Earth and DO have a pool filter, milage will clearly vary.Renato--== Aug 30th 2022 - An updateAfter contacting the vendor, I was asked to conduct yet another test (they had initially asked me to check the wiring. Did that. The wires were correctly connected. They later asked me to check the impeller for damages by taking apart the "pump wet end". Did that and the impeller is fine). This time they asked me to "Can you check if the water is full in the pump body from the transparent lid when the pump is running?".I responded with this"Enough! This has been going on for the entire season. I get the impression that you are dragging your feet!I have already asked you 2 times to honor the warranty, and you keep on ignoring my request."Surprise surprise, no answer following the last exchange. That's when I decided to go with plan-b.Today I contacted Amazon. I explained the situation and I was given the usual party line:"Thank you for being a valued Amazon customer. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do on our end. I suggest you contact the vendor!"Here is perfect example of somebody reading from a script. Clearly she missed the past when I said that the vendor had gone radio silent! I articulated that I was failing to see the value of Amazon's "buyer's protection service". In the end, these vendors are doing business under Amazon's name.It gets better.......As the person on the phone (from India) started sensing my excitement in my voice, she decided to come to the rescue! She offered me a $5 gift certificate. Yes, 5 (as in five dollars). I told her that I found her offer insulting given that I had paid close to $700 for the pump.Amazon, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Works perfect for my 15,000gl pool
I never thought it would work this well. It is extremely efficient. It starts running as soon as the sun hits the panels and then speeds up as the sun rises. The flow in the pool is excellent. It was easy to install. The couplings to the pump were a bit stiff, but with some silicone grease it worked out fine and the connection was tight straight away. I should have had this pump long time ago. My pool is a lot cleaner as well because the pump runs so long. Highly recommended to every pool owner.
