I don't like the light, can i get rid of it without breaking the jet?

I also need to turn off the light - I cannot locate the switch - where is it?

Would it be possible to change out the pump for one that automatically shuts off when water levels are too low?

Yes, you can change one. But if it automatically shuts off, your pet will not have any access to the water when you are not around. The window and the light help you see the level of the water.

How often do the filters need to be changed?
