So, along with the 200 or so little spines you need to screw into the central orb, the kit comes with a tapping tool that you can use to re-thread any particularly difficult hole. Unfortunately, I found that every single hole needed the treatment on mine. I HIGHLY recommend checking every hole and tapping BEFORE you hang the fixture--tapping holes while it's already hanging sucks.Also, having done it the wrong way now, I also recommend that after you confirm the spikes can screw into the holes (all of them!), take them all out for the actual hanging. Trying to get this heavy porcupine secured to the ceiling, even with two people, was monstrously difficult. Screwing the spikes back in is going to be extremely unpleasant, but at least after this you're done!Some sore shoulders and several dollars in the swear jar later, the light is installed and looks quite nice.
