I am currently using this to take the temperature of my breastmilk when re-heating it. It is a must have for someone who pumps, freezes, and reheats their milk. You can get your milk back to exact body temperature with the help of this thing. I obviously never fully submerge it in the breastmilk or water when cleaning it off. The reason for taking away 1 star is because one time I think I put it back in the drawer too hard and it kind of 'shook' the battery out of place. I thought the battery had run out because it kept giving me weird lines on the screen and then turning off, I was quite mad because I had only had it for about a week. My husband took it apart and shoved the battery back into place and it works fine again. Kind of a design flaw that the battery can slip out of place but I'm glad it was fixed and is working again. Hopefully that might help someone if that happens to their thermometer!

I used this to assist me when I make yogurt at home. Worked great. My only quibble would be that when you are attempting to determine a much higher temperature it works it way up in large increments and then slows down as it gets closer to the end temp. It will start at or near room temps and make leaps of 9 degrees, then slow to 7, then 4, 2, and finally tenths of a degree. It might take 30 seconds to determine my mixture was at 180 degrees and my hand is holding it that amount of time above the heat. Not horrible at all, but I wished it would find the temperature quicker. Worked great for my needs and I will continue to use it.

This thermometer fell short in a couple areas. First, it takes forever to finish reading a temperature. Not knowing this and assuming otherwise on account of it being an, "instant thermometer", I had several well done steaks before figuring out I had to leave it in the steak for a minute for it to finish reading the temp. Secondly, it broke. Now it doesn't turn on at all.Update: I've increased my rating by a star because they appear to have stellar customer service. Within minutes of posting my review, they extended an offer to replace it. Perhaps it will turn out that I just got a defective one, in which case I'll increase my score again. Either way, thanks for the support!

I used the thermometer to check a chicken roast recently and found it was very accurate. I did not clean the probe other than a rinse before I used it and it left a grey mark on the white meat. The probe was easy to clean with Barkeepers Friend Soft Cleanser. This is what I use on my aluminum bakeware. I only used my fingers to wipe the probe with the cleanser, rinse with water and dry with a paper towel. It usually takes several repeats of this procedure to get aluminum squeaky clean. However, I cannot see how to change the battery. It looks like it is encased in metal with no way to get the battery out. Other than that, I had a great experience with the thermometer and look forward to using it to make candy and checking the doneness of meats, etc.

It comes with a pen-clip sheath for the metal probe which is nice.The display is small and buttons are even smaller - can be difficult to depress.However, I was able to turn it on and it did begin to automatically read temperatures immediately.Note: Don't put/leave this in the oven while meat is cooking. Best to remove meat from heat then test temperature - remove thermometer - replace meat to cook.Definitely recommend.

Excellent product for the price, doubled checked the temperature of Steaks with another devices and there was only a few degrees difference between the two. Word of caution, the unit is a little difficult to read in sunlight (what screen really is?), but make sure you do not leave this unit in hot, sunny area when grilling, the display will go blank and stay that way until the display cools down. Not a problem if you keep in your pocket in its protection sleeve, but a big no if you want to leave it around or near the grill for longer than 10 minutes or so.Very quick to come up with accurate temperature reading (either in C or F), with long probe that is built well into the temperature unit.

Shows the temperature. 1 Month in and it still works.**UPDATED REVIEW: 11/4/18**This no longer works. I cooked chicken thighs to ~155F (confirmed with another temperature meter), and this one said 103F. Not only that, but it took 2-3 minutes to show that wrong temperature. 3 years in and this will be going into the trash. Waste of $10

The list price of $35.99 is a joke. Most of the positive reviews are people who received the product for free for an "unbiased" review. But getting a free item inherently biases people's judgement towards a product.This product takes a few mintues to actually get up to the temperature of the meat. I've used it to measure chicken, and I simply have no idea what the actual temperature is. So I have been having to overcook my chicken just to make sure it's cooked to the proper temperature. I will be getting a new thermometer and in the future I will be avoiding products that depend on giving away products to receive positive reviews. It seems like sellers have learned how to game how amazon works in order to sell their cheap products and pass them off as quality items.Unlike some other reviews, mine did come with a battery and work right out of the package.
