Excellent and better than competitors
This is the 2nd garage rack i put up myself with minimal help. First was a new age. Superficially they resemble each other but i think the fleximount is much better and easier to put up even if it costs a few dollars more. The brackets on fleximount are large and can span two joists. The key to putting these racks is getting the lag screws into studs. Its quite difficult finding studs while perched on a ladder. I bought 3 different stud finders including some expensive ones like franklin one. But none are perfect. Maybe best is the cheap magnet one. If you miss the stud you can move over a hole on fleximount and you can try it again. On a small bracket you have to move everything and pray you're going to get lucky. Spacing out the brackets 4 feet apart isnt too bad but if you mismeasure, you can adjust the vertical hanging bracket without moving the ceiling mount. Just move the vertical bracket over one or two holes and youll be fine. You still have to space the other brackets 6 feet away or 8 feet away depending on your rack. That isnt easiest measuring a distance on the ceiling. But at least you can get the width done without too much trial and error. I have two criticisms. The instructions are too basic. One key point is getting the hanging vertical bracket that the rack fits into properly oriented. There is a bottom piece of the vertical hanging bracket that the rack fits into, You need to pay attention to the small diagram to get the orientation right or the rack wont fit. They should magnify that diagram. The rack itself is 3 or 4 sections screwed together which means you put it down as one large piece but it is too heavy for one person at that point. You will need two people to lift and fit the rack on to he hanging bracket while climbing two ladders simultaneously. At least thats what i did. Other brand designs would allow you to put one section at a time so theoretically you could do it yourself. All in all i did this fleximount rack in 1/4 amount of time that i spent on a new age rack. I recommend this model even though you can find a cheaper brand. The hardware included was sturdy. Instructions were marginal. If you're nervous about trying to install yourself get the smaller 4x 6 feet model since its more forgiving in terms of measurement.

PAIN in the behind to put together...
To spare long reading, I'll just break down what we perceive as pros and cons PROS *Solid unit. Definitely made of solid materials. *Fairly easy to install. You'll want to make sure you install into the beams themselves to ensure holding any significant weight. *Sturdy - we have all of our outside yard games, chairs, and coolers in the top. Then we hung 4 bikes from the underside. **see cons about this** CONS: *Pain in the BEHIND to put the rack together. The holes are not threaded correctly so it took FOREVER to put the unit together. Some holes weren't even threaded. Hurt my hands just trying to screw these in with an Allen Wrench. *Though sturdy, it definitely sags in the middle. It is NOT from the above stated weight. It was sagging before adding anything at all. The construction of it is still solid so I'm not worried about failure. But if you're looking for perfectly straight, not happening with this unit. All of this being said, it's a great solid product. I would buy it again. In fact we have a 4x8 to install sitting in the garage (That's a long story, FedEx lost that shipment... Just got the replacement) Instructions are pretty easy to follow. They don't identify the pole pieces. There are 3 different types. You will have to pay close attention and figure out which ones attach to the ceiling, which are down rods and which are the pieces that the unit lays in after mounting. Leave time for assembly of the rack. Be patient with it or you will strip the hole. And in the end, enjoy the extra storage space.

Quality product, well designed for easy assembly, all necessary parts included (no extra but no short parts). Well thought out & well engineered product. Set to 40" drop from ceiling & is quite stable when fully loaded.

I was very happy with these. They are sturdy and fit very well in the garage. I bought this and it was solid and helped clean up the garage tremendously. It takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it and the right tools, it's pretty easy to assemble and install (i'm not a handy man). The 3x6 shelf can be raised on your own, the wire part is the heaviest piece but this one is manageable with some bungee cords and will power

Bought this for my garage. Christmas and Halloween decorations storage instead of laying on the floor. The installation was easy (because i'm a DIY handyman.. otherwise, make sure you mount this properly in the studs or trusses). The bracket requires you to install about 1/2" from a wall so it may be a bit wiggeling. I added a 1x3 behind the tracks and it did the trick just fine. I would recommend this to anyone wanting that extra wasting space above your head!

Easy to install, but maybe a little flimsy. There should be better supports on the arms in places but then again I am not worried so maybe I am just being picky.
