Good book to learn the ocarina

Great for beginners as all the finger positions are under the staves, however the person I bought it for decided not to learn the ocarina after all!

There is lots of variation in this song book. I like that it has both the stave notes and the fingering below. The only thing I would say is that it doesnt necessarily match with the songs - for example cotton eyed joe does not sound anything like the song (I have played it on both the ocorena and another instrument I am more experience with and still cannot get it to sound like the song).

I didn't know all of the songs but each song came with sheet music, tabs, and lyrics so it was easy to learn and follow. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a tab version as you learn the ocarina!

Nachdem ich mir auf einem Kunsthandwerkermarkt eine Ocarina gekauft hatte, mußten auch die passenden Noten her. Also habe ich mir mehrere Bücher bestellt und dieses war mit Abstand das Beste. Zunächst einmal ist es die große Auswahl an Liedern, bei der für jeden was dabei ist. Man ist also fürs nächste Lagerfeuer gut gerüstet. Anfangs kannte ich vom Titel kaum ein Lied, aber wenn man sie anspielt, kommen einem doch so einige recht bekannt vor. Also nicht abschrecken lassen und einfach mal ausprobieren! Dann steht unter jeder Note der passende Griff auf der Ocarina, was gerade für Anfänger sehr gut ist. Man sollte natürlich anhand der Grifftabelle im Anhang die Tonleiter üben, aber so hat man auch ohne großartige Kenntnisse schon kleine Erfolge und kann Lieder ohne Notenkenntnisse spielen. Ich fand das durchaus motivierend. Ein besonderes Highlight fand ich aber die Gitarrengriffe, die bei den Ocarinanoten dabei stehen. Unten auf der Seite stehen auch nochmal extra die einzelnen Griffe auf den Saiten, damit man vorher üben kann. So kann man z.B. mit anderen Musikern zusammenspielen und hat eigentlich noch ein Gitarrensongbuch mit drin. Für den Preis ein absolutes Schnäppchen. Von meinen Ocarinabüchern ist es mit Abstand das Beste. Da kann sich so mancher Autor eine Scheibe von abschneiden.

The Ocarina Songbook arrived within a week of ordering. Great service. I spent the next couple of evenings playing each song and noting the ones that I recognized. The fingering diagrams were a great help when I needed to check a note. The 12 hole ocarina is fun to play and the fingering is logical. There is a good collection of songs that are an octave or so and are also fun to play with other instruments. A great book to add to my music collection.
