This thing is the bomb! (And if you read this whole review you'll know how to make the best chicken ever.)
OMG y'all. This thing. I tell you what. It's fantastic. Sturdy. Does exactly what it says.If you want to do it right, here's what you'll do:Preheat the oven to 450FTake a can of beer drink some of it (I drank about 2/3) and put it in the little ring in the center.Take your bird and fix it up it to your liking. If you're interested, here's what I did:Put the bird in a cast iron skillet.Mix up a bunch of cayenne, garlic powder, salt, and flour in a bowl. Put it all over the outside of the bird. Whatever's left, just put it in the skillet. Then take a few glugs of maple syrup, about an equal amount of sriracha sauce, and a squirt of mayo. Whip it, and whip it good. Rub that all over the outside of the bird. Don't worry if there's excess. Just put it in the skillet!Dice up a couple of potatoes and onions. Throw those in the skillet. (The leftover seasoning and glaze and chicken drippings will make a great sauce!)Ok, once the bird is fixed up to your liking, shove it on the beer can and put it in a pan (preferably a cast iron skillet, cuz that's how we roll up in here, amiright?).Put it in the oven for ten minutes. After ten minutes, lower the temp to 325F. DON'T OPEN THE DADGUM DOOR!!!No, seriously, resist the urge to open the door. The oven needs to lower its temp without any help.Roast it for about an hour. Your meat thermometer should read 160 or so and the juices should run clear. Here's a mistake I made because I was hungry: You need to let the thing rest. Just take it out of the oven and let it sit for like 20-30 minutes. Otherwise you're going to have chicken juice all over the place when you carve it. And you don't want to let loose the juice. With the mixture of flour and spices, leftover glaze, and chicken drippings, you're going to have a great pan sauce. Stir the taters and onions around in that. You're gonna love it, I promise. If you do it all correctly, your chicken will come out looking like mine.Seriously y'all. Buy this thing. It's great. I'm gonna use it all the time.Amazon wants me to let you know I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review. It didn't say anything about a recipe, but you got that for free. You're welcome!
