Working finger print time clock
This is a quick way to upgrade your time clock from old paper to digital. It requires a lot of micro adjustments if employees make mistakes. It is sort of a blunt instrument but it works when you limit the scope of what you would expect from a time clock. Support is minimal but it's not that hard to use.#1 the finger print sign in allows people to sign in regardless if the finger is readable or not after 3 failed attempts. A plus in my book if you have lots of employees.#2 it's drastically simple to use if you only have people signing in as they come to work and out as they leave with lunch automatically deducted.#3 Department setup is essential to limit people going in and out too early or too late. One problem with this is that it has a habit of losing wifi connection even if it's just 10 feet away from the router. It's not much of a problem by itself because it can function just fine without wifi. You also need to back it up frequently and wipe the punch data every couple months or it will slow the whole system down.I would strongly recommend anyone using this system to supplement it with an excel database to make their lives easier.

Versatile, fingerprint reader doesn't always work
This fingerprint time clock has lessened the time and energy needed to process our payroll, which used to be a mechanical time stamp machine with paper time cards. Although you can't avoid the problem of employees forgetting to clock in and out, at least it's easy to read the times which they remember.Good:1. Time clock information can be accessed in several ways. We use a cable to connect the machine to the laptop computer, access the information for the 2-week pay period, and print it out.2. Most people have no problem with the fingerprint reader. They simply put their finger on the reader, the machine recognizes them, and they press "in" or "out" according to whether they're starting work or finishing.3. For those whose fingers are not recognized (I've had this problem with every fingerprint-reading machine, because of dry skin or cold fingers), the machine can be programmed to allow them to clock in with their personal code. If somebody does have a problem getting their fingerprint recognized, it is helpful to put lotion on the hands and rub it in, and also rub hands together vigorously to warm them up.4. If an employee forgot to clock in, and they come to the end of their shift and try to clock out, the screen will intermittently blink "in," indicating that the employee needs to clock in. We have forms sitting beside the time clock which employees can fill out for the missed clock-in or clock-out. As for the time clock, we instruct employees to clock in (to make up for the missing clock-in) and then clock out immediately.Bad:1. Some might actually think this a good thing: the information cannot be accessed online. It needs to be physically accessed from the machine.2. The administrator can access the time clock using a password, and change or add times. The record will reflect that the time has been changed with an "E" beside it. However, there is no way to find out what the time was before it was changed. So be careful of who you give access to the system. If a dishonest person has access, they can easily add hours at will.3. The time clock does not always compute hours correctly. We always copy the times into an excel spreadsheet in order to calculate taxes etc., and at times the total hours differ by 15 minutes or more. I have double checked several instances, and it appears that the time clock rounds differently than excel does. I go by excel.Overall this has been a good purchase, saving us time, and offers more security than a paper time punch machine.

Works well and has no monthly fee's
Using this for a landscaping company with about 18 employees. Set up wasn't too hard, about an hour to enter the names and set the timesheet options. Much quicker than adding up daily timesheets, you can view, print or email a timecard to any employee who wants to see their hours. You can easily edit hours if someone forgets to punch in or out, or if you need to add or remove a lunch. Office workers can clock in/out from any web browser, since the clock is in a different building where the equipment is stored and don't usually go out there.Another good thing is it does not ever need to connect to icontime's website or a server/host. Should the company ever go out of business or stops supporting this product it will still continue to work. It sends backups and other information in emails from the timeclock to your email and not though a 3rd party. One feature I that I think it should have is an option to store a picture anytime an employee clocks in or out using a pin # or card,. It currently will only take a picture if someone's fingerprint fails to scan multiple times, but will not do it for someone clocking in/out not using a fingerprint. Also it only comes with 30 days support starting when you register it, that is not very long for the price. So I did not register the unit when we started using it, I am figuring out myself and waiting to register it until a later date incase we need support in the future.
