O-Donut Water-Proof E-Collar for Cats and Dogs (Kiwi, M)

Our 6 mos old Russian Blue rescue just got spayed 2 days ago. We tried a conventional e-collar when we brought her home and she completely freaked out when we put it on her. She was extremely distressed, jumped all around the bathroom trying to get it off; which she succeeded in doing so within a minute. I found this e-collar on amazon and ordered it to be delivered ASAP.In the meantime while waiting for it to get here, we tried an inflatable donut e-collar found at our local pets store (see picture, in blue). This was attached to a kitten collar, which we fastened around her neck. She couldn't get it off this time, despite her constant trying, but you could tell the e-collar limited her range of motion by quite a bit. She could still eat and drink, but it made sleeping and lounging uncomfortable. In fact, she was extremely hyper and kept us up all night the day we picked her up from surgery; the anesthesia and pain shot probably contributed to most of it, but the inflatable e-collar didn't help.The Spacecat e-collar was finally delivered on day 2 post-op and she didn't even flinch when we swapped out the inflatable e-collar for Spacecat. The construct is high quality and the material is soft enough to "give" when she wants to lay down. It allows her freedom to eat, drink, use the litter. And of course, it definitely prevents her from licking her surgical wound, which is the main purpose of having her wear an e-collar.Now, I'm sure she can't wait until she's completely free of e-collars, but she appears to be a much happier and calmer kitten. This is definitely the more "humane" way of going about this. I wish I had known about this product earlier. Would absolutely recommend this to family and friends!!!

I Love (LOVE) this option over the plastic cone. If I had the means I would donate at least a dozen to every animal shelter.While monitored, we take the cone off for our cat to eat, and then groom a bit afterwards. As soon as he goes for the stitches the cone goes back on. We ordered both the Medium and Large. Our cat was much more relaxed and comfortable with the Medium (it’s smaller thus lighter). He could easily eat, drink, use the litter box with the Medium. However, we learned that he could reach the stitches (bottom belly by hind leg) with the Medium. Thankfully we had the large so we easily transitioned. He’s not as comfortable, but he is still more relaxed than he was with the plastic cone from the vet or the highly rated soft cone we picked up from PetCo. He is still able to do the same things he did with the Medium. It’s a little more difficult to navigate steps, but he still walks up and down our carpeted steps.I love how the cover can be removed and washed. Our cat had a mass removed so he needs the cone for 2 weeks. He is just under 15 pounds. I do not know the circumference measurements of his neck. He is rather large, so the Medium was too short for his particular injury to be protected. We are keeping both sizes.

Love this for my kitty! He’s a big boned 15lb cat, and I got the large. Perfect size for him, and good for preventing him from reaching his front paw with his mouth. He raises his paw and the collar stops him from reaching. His front paw got infected (and he was chewing the crap out if it) and the vet gave us the traditional cone of shame. Bernie did not know how to move, eat, or drink with the hard plastic cone, and was just plain miserable. I put this collar on and he was fine from the start. He seemed only slightly confused but now has been wearing it for 4 days straight with no problems. I think he likes the built in travel pillow. :) He can eat and drink with it but can’t reach his paw. I think it would work also if he had any lower body issues. I’ve seen him scratch his head with his back paw I think but his mouth can’t reach anything.

My Ernie is a 10lb 7 month old kitten with a muscular neck and he was able to remove this too easily. I bought this collar for him because he would not leave his incisions from his neutering.The collar did keep him from reaching his incisions and I think he would have been much more comfortable with this collar as opposed to a traditional plastic cone.Before buying this collar I never noticed that Ernie's neck is almost as big around as his head. He was able to slip the collar over his head with little effort. I tightened the collar as much as I could without strangling him.

This is really a great e collar. My cat had a hotspot on her front paw that she couldn't leave alone. She ended up licking the skin off. She hated bandages and a normal e collar caused her to run into walls, have trouble eating and drinking, and more stress for her. This one is super comfortable for her. As soon as I put it on she was much happier. It doesn't restrict her vision and she doesn't run into walls anymore. Plus it's waterproof so if she gets it in her water bowl it's not soaking wet. And, of course, she can't get to her paw. The inner drawstring allowed me to put it on her in like 5 seconds. It gets tight enough that it won't come off but still comfy for her! I have no qualms about leaving this on her long term. I'm extremely satisfied with this product and I would recommend this to anyone with a cat!Sizing wise I got her a small. She maybe weighs 10 pounds. But it's super adjustable so it would work for cats bigger or smaller too.

This was worth the extra money to make my kitty soooooo much happier than the standard vet cone!! Plus, she looks extra cute it in! With the plastic cone, she was slinking and even walking backwards because it was heavy and cumbersome.. this product allows her to walk freely, eat and drink regularly, and she can even get some play time with it on! It was also extremely easy to put it on her! The drawstring was the key! Not to mention how comfy it must be for her, especially compared to the hard plastic cone! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend it for your pet!!

The collar seemed to fit nicely on the kitten’s neck but ten seconds later was in the middle of his body, more like a life preserver than an E-collar. And it was his face and neck that I needed to protect.
