Survey of Information Technology
A relatively quick read (maybe a couple of hours if you do all of the exercises including the web setups) that will guide a novice through the basics of information technology. This is not a programming book, nor a complete "how-to" guide. Think of it more as an overview - some history, some of what is currently happening in the industry, and a look ahead to some of the larger trends that may have some staying power. Overall, it is written very conversationally and clearly. I could definitely recommend this as a starting read for anyone who has not worked in the industry, or may not know "a lot about computers" other than downloading apps, searching, and reading email.

Very helpful
Well written. Short and to the point. Explains fundmental concepts very effectively with drowning the reader in lots of technical jargon

Informative
Very informative book but could have been proofread better. There are some spelling mistakes and grammar errors in the book.

Needs work but still okay for beginners
Very basic but I would consider okay for beginners as far as content. Awful editing. There are so many issues that you have to read sections a couple times to determine what is being said. Errors are misspelled words, duplication of words and phrases in the same sentence, incomplete sentences, just a wide range of issues. I could see a beginner getting lost in several areas because of the errors.

Terribly written
As another reviewer noted, this book is terribly written. There are very many errors, repetition and just poor writing style. It looks almost as if it's just a lecture transcribed by some bad software. And it's clearly not for the professionals, as stated. If you don't know what motherboard is for, what's a difference between laptop and desktop, and what CRM is then you're not really an IT professional IMHO. Lots of useless information as well, e.g. some top cloud vendors. There are dozens of such lists out there at any given time.

Ok
There are typos on almost every page. It's annoying but if you can get past it the book is ok.
