Good item fits well

I wanted to give this six stars as soon as I opened the shipping box. I have decades in the metal finishing business, and I'm telling you this has a quality decorative chrome job. Nice metal stamping on a full press, good pre-plate polish & buff, the cleaning left no residual rouge, top tier bright nickel with no chrome holidays even on the back side recesses. I'd hire or recommend the plater in a heartbeat. The enamel high gloss black edge is a good aesthetic detail that I wouldn't have thought of, and I really like. It makes the cover plate "pop." The plate itself is heavy. It is not flimsy sheet metal. The manufacturer could have saved some coin by using a thinner gauged stock, but they didn't. Kuddos to them. From the listing picture I couldn't really tell if I would like it, so I got this as a trial run before doing all the cover plates in my home. Needless to say, I will purchase many more of these. Did I mention six stars? If you are a car guy, a Tim-the-Tool-Man-Taylor guy, someone outfitting a man cave, or you just like the look of garages in the tool catalogs, you will really like this. If you are an old school chrome freak like me, you will grin like a chimp when you open the Amazon box. Some recommendations: Before installation, hit it with a coat of your best high gloss car wax*. All dec chrome should be waxed, nobody will tell you that; I'm the guy who will. I think "liquid metal" decorative chrome is the most beautiful surface on the planet, but you probably figured that out. You want the wax to be your sacrificial surface that can be rejuvenated. If you wax it, it will stay good looking longer than you. *if your best wax is a "cleaner wax" hold off and get something like the readily available Meg's Ultimate Polish; and throw that cleaner wax away. Seriously. The backside of the package has some maintenance tips. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. The edge can be sharp and you don't want to press a footprint into your wall. Did I mention that it is solid and not flimsy sheet metal? Also, dec chrome doesn't take kindly to a lot of bending. Don't use abrasive cleaners (see "cleaner wax" above). Get used to touching the plate with your knuckle instead of your fingertip, unless you like static discharges. It's metal and metal machine screws attach it into metal that is grounded. If you're on carpet you'll ground out your static build up. I think some finishing washers would look good on this. I didn't see what I am looking for on Amazon, but Grainger has some sort of squared shoulder black nylon ones that I think would look perfect with this (Hint to Amazon). I wanted something to tie the new metal tile in with the new stove, and this did the trick. It is actual metal and brightly polished. I had to file the slots for the switches just a little bit because I have older switches that are wider than new ones. but other than that, I am very happy with it and I am going to be ordering new covers for everything in the kitchen.
