This is a two for one book. It has Aflame and Next to Never combined. Aflame: Wow. This book. It is so much more than I could have hoped for. Every.Single.Thing.About this book made me feel. It is hard not to back up my feelings and thoughts without giving spoilers or teasers. But each word should be given it’s own chance with the reader to experience. For me the book was emotional. Sentimental in ways I didn’t expect. I found myself crying through nearly the whole book. Not necessarily tears of sadness…just in the beauty of feeling. The messages of love and choices. Of family. The emotions we all deal with growing up transitioning to adulthood. It just all got to me. I connected on a personal level, so that days later, tears still come to my eyes thinking of different scenes. It was honest. Relatable. I have been a part of their lives for so long. At the time reading it, it was bittersweet to have to let go of them. Through Penelope Douglas’s writing I truly feel as if I know them and I was selfishly sad that their lives will continue on with out me. It has been an amazing ride. It was even worth all the anxiety between Falling Away and now. It was one of my all time favorite series - and this last installment may be my favorite of the 5. Then as a surprise, we got Next to Never. A hope of connecting back to my favorite gang. I read Next to Never going in blind. And I mean BLIND. Sometimes I do not like to overhype a book to myself, so I will not read anything. Blurbs, sneak peaks on author's FB page, reviews. Nothing. Blind. Why do I point this out? because I feel like talking about the book is spoiler. It's not, but I actually liked that I was surprised at %16 when I figured out where the story was going. So I'll keep my review vague although I know all other reviews will say who the story is about. I loved how this novella rounds out the whole Fall Away series. It brings a fresh story to a cast of characters we already know and love. And while I may not love all of the characters, it really brings everything full circle. I like that it feels real. Not picture perfect. Unapologetic. Some stories are just - well, that's their story. But.... what I LOVE is that Penelope Douglas always leaves me wanting more. I am literally dying for Quinn and Lucas. DYING for Kade, Hunter and Dylan. DYING! So, all-in-all, a great novella. It satisfied my melancholy over Jared and the gang, it made me super excited about future books with the Fall Away offspring, and the best part...it has enabled Aflame to be put into print and on my bookshelf! Stressed Me Out A Bit, But All Ended Well
Great conclusion to Jared's & Tate's romance. I took off a star only because I was stressed out for the beginning portion of the book, and I don't particularly enjoy being that stressed while reading, lol. I will say there is some excellent and funny af dialog. It was perfection, especially the ending of Chapter 12 with Jared & Madoc. That had me rolling! Really, I'd give this 4.5 stars.

Great Read!!!!!!
Even though The Next Flame is the original Aflame and Next to Never combined I still loved it, this was one of those that if you've already read it, it is worth a re-read! Penelope Douglas Fall Away Series is without a doubt one of the BEST series out there today. I fell in love with the characters and their stories beginning with Bully, this author has a way with words for sure! I promise you that you will be hooked from the first book until the last one! As always this was the end as far as we know, but there could be more (hint hint)??? Lol.

I need More (in a good way)
I enjoyed reading more about the family Jas and Kat's backstory and everyone's kids but it just left me wanting to know more about the kids! Quinn and Lucas will they ever get their story told???? How will the twins do being apart? who will win Dylan's heart??

If you're looking at buying this book, you obviously know how amazing Penelope's stories are. Why you hesitating? Just jump in you know you won't regret it. If you have just come across this story, you need to read the series from the beginning, starting with Bully. Again you won't regret it. This is two books in one. Aflame by Jared and Tate. And Next to Never as told by Quinn, but it is not Quinns story. That's a wonderful surprise. 😉
