AprilAire 416 Replacement Filter for AprilAire Whole House Air Purifiers - MERV 16, Allergy, Asthma, & Virus, 16x25x4 Air Filter (Pack of 2)

For years, I was used to replacing those skinny filters about once a month on our previous unit but when we got the AC + furnace replaced last year, it came with these new MERV filters. The vendor claimed that the MERV filters would last roughly 6 months and were more effective in reducing dust which, at the time, sounded like a tall claim to me.Now it's been over a year of living with the new AC and the Aprilaire MERV filters and I am happy to report that these filters work. There is definitely less dust in the house and it's noticeable when vacuuming. When I went to change the first filter after 6 months of use, it was amazing how much dust it had caught. These are definitely more expensive than what I am used to (previously I'd buy a set of 4 filters for $40ish from Costco and now I am spending more than $200 for a set of 2) but these work well so really no complaints.

Normally the air quality in my state is good. I usually use the 413 filter for my allergies. I decided to step up to the 416 just to see if I could tell a difference. I had no idea that the day after I installed it, the air quality would rapidly go to 233/Very Unhealthy, due to smoke from both western US wildfires and northern Canadian wildfires. It went even higher than 233 after I took this pic of my watch face. My watch alerted me to the dangerous level and I was shocked to see the level of pollution. I immediately turned off my HRV so as not to take in any outside air. The 416 filter definitely did it's job! The air quality inside the house was excellent! My allergies were fine considering outside my windows I could see dark gray smoke. It was an extraordinary eerie event unfolding right outside my windows and doors! I had never witnessed anything like that before. I was concerned for my allergies, asthma, and bronchitis, but never exhibited any symptoms during days of wildfire smoke. I normally change out the 413 every 3 months. Will most likely do the same with the 416. It's definitely worth the price.

I have been buying these filters since I bought my new furnace about 2yrs ago. These filters pick up a lot of dust.

My wife is sensitive to dust and other airborne stuff. We normally get the 413 because for the price of one 416 we can get two 413's, and the 413 lasts longer than the 416. The 416 works very well, but it fills up faster. We don't really notice the difference.

Dies this filter reduce tvoc ? My meter shows lower levels since using it . Also , is it my imagination that I have sniffles less ? Need more time to see if this is true and if it reduces dusting . So far so good .

I really he this product It lasts 6 months with no problem. We replace them in spring and fall, Keups the House nice and fresh smelling

Trying this one out for the first time. Seems to be the same as the regular filter. Not much of a difference.
