In a hard water area, this is the perfect descaler for any appliances. Have never used it for making cordial, but I've been told it's great for that too. It works out a lot cheaper than supermarket descaling products. Plenty of online advice for quantities to use and everything comes up bright and shiny. Can also make a paste and clean taps, plugholes etc. Superb stuff.

Bought this to add some zing to squash but, after reading that you could also use it to descle a kettle, decided to add some powder to the water in the kettle and see how it fared.Added a dessert spoon of the citric acid powder to the half filled kettle, boiled it and forgot about until the next day.I returned to a pristine interior of the kettle! Absolutely spotless!!!Amazed.Oh and it definitely adds some zing to Ribena.

It is used to do a cleaning cycle of my Dyson air purifier/humidifier very cheap vs other brands as it is the same chemical no matter what brand you go for.

First off, I bought this item to Produce CO2 for the plants in my fish tank, and for that it works perfectly when used in my DIY set up with baking soda.My secondary use for citric acid is as a healthy treat, more on that in a bit.This is my second purchase from this company because the value for money is great. The citric acid comes in a no frills plastic bag, fully sealed and very durable; this must keep their costs down, hence the value you get. It was nice to see on my second order, the bag now has a resealable Ziplock zip, the first order didn't and I used food clips to keep the bag closed.I thought I would check the weight of the item to make sure I had received the advertised 1kg, and as you can see in the image, it is 31 grams over with the packaging included, so bang on a kilo I would say.Now for the confusion: The item description say "100% food grade" and I'm a fan of sour treats. A favourite of mine is frozen grapes coated in citric acid and a small amount of sugar. But, the label on the packaging says "for external use only" so, I won't be using this for eating.Overall I I still rate this highly, as the main purpose for me is external use and for anyone considering this for CO2 generation or maybe cleaning purposes, you can't go wrong. But, I have to drop a star due to the confusion as to whether this is safe for consumption.

I use this for descaling my kettle, coffee maker and even use it to clean the shower screen.Excellent product, cleans calcium/limescale like nothing else including proper descaling products, 1kg bag will last for absolutely ages.

Using this for descaling. Brilliant stuff. Boil the kettle with 1 third water. 1 heaped tablespoon of citric acid. I normally use white vinegar but hard to get. I think this works better. Very expensive but a little goes a long way. No nasty chemicals in my kettle. I then use that kettle full of citric acid water to clean around the house. Boom and the scale gone! Soak your shower head in it. Put it in a spray bottle etc. Doesn't leave a smell. Good stuff.

Using this to descale the kettle. Adding a teaspoon- dessert spoon every couple of weeks is keeping it all nice and shiny. Much easier than using lemon juice which I was using previously as it boils off and only needs a quick rinse through and no after taste

Works a treat with a tbsp in half a kettle, boil and then re boil if not all limes cake has gone, rinse and you’re ready to go
