Perfect for Backpacking!
After receiving the tent, I set it up in the back yard to give it a test run. It took less than a minute to put together, and the size was a perfect fit for me and my pack. The material is tough, but light. The zippers flow smoothly, and it all fits rather well in my pack. I plan on taking this on a 6 week journey through the mojave desert and siwrra mountains next month, and am now all the more excited!

Very lightweight
Metal poles are much stronger than older fiberglass version. Product is easy to set up and light weight as expected. Probably not 3 season tent unless you have a very warm sleep system. I camped in northern Midwest during June and this tent kept me dry but I was still freezing at night.

Works Great!
Got this for my teenage son who camps out. He loves it. Enough room for his sleep mat, sleeping bag, and a few necessities. He work up and it was raining. He stayed in the tent until the rain stopped because he wanted to stay dry. That’s saying something!!

Packable Bivvy
With backpacking gear, you pay for the lightweight option. This is an affordable lightweight design that packs out easily, easy for my younger sons to pack out. With a lightweight cot, this system is complete.

I would buy again
Awesome tent. Very easy to set up and take down. Packs great and weighs little.

Not really a tent, more like a large bivy.
This Eureka Solitaire should be considered more as a bivy than a tent. I suppose it is more a bivy/tent hybrid. Being an inbetween, it is not super light, but is not super heavy either. Weight on this is 3 lbs, 2 oz. That is with poles, stakes, guy lines, and carry bag. So the tent is not an ultralight, especially for the size of this thing.Pros:1. Packs down small and does not take up much room in a backpack.2. Fairly light3. Fly can be rolled up to allow for maximum airflow when the weather permits.Cons:1. Not free standing. Must be staked down.2. Fly is not removable.3. No vestibule.4. Must crawl in/out from the front. Can be hard to keep from getting wet/dirty if there was a storm/rain the night before.Overall, if you are looking for a bivy style tent, this probably is what you want. Unless you want an ultra-light, which this is not.I personally would not recommend this style of tent. But, if you are looking for a nicely built bivy tent, this is probably it, if you do not mind the weight.Would be really good for motorcycle or bike camping. Not really for backpacking, as the weight is comparable to a good 2 person tent!If I were going to carry a 3lb+ tent, I would get one with enough room to sit up in and that has a vestibule. Plenty of those tents out there in the 3lb range.

Small tent designed to keep you out of the elements
Decent small tent. As has been noted elsewhere, however, this is really a bivvy tent. To give you an idea of that, the floor is almost completely taken up by a sleeping pad. Its purpose is to protect you from the elements, not to give an airy feel. It is pretty lightweight. It is pretty easy to set up once you practice a couple times.Advantages:- relatively lite- relatively inexpensive (you can pay insane amounts for a small lightweight tent)- low profile, so is OK in the wind.- interesting zipper top design that could be useful.- like the attached rain fly design!Disadvantages:- inside gear pockets are too small and are at bad angles, so don't hold much and spill things out.- design of zippers is poor. They leave small gaps that allow small insects (like ants) to potentially enter. I will try to post pix of this.- potential big issue: if you use for backpacking, which seems to be the purpose, there will NOT be enough space to get your backpack inside. That is, unless you and the pack are small. This may lead to leaving it outside in the rain, etc. Note that the vestibule is very small and almost non-existent.EDIT - See the attached images of the zipper issue. It might not seem like much, but when ants abound it could be an issue. I am thinking of how to seal these gaps.I will be working on trying to seal those zipper gaps as there are a lot of little bugs in the desert.

Small but mighty
Liked the connivence and sturdiness.

Small and effective
I buyed this as a shelter for quick overnighter ,no elaborate set up,ligth load and it excel at that .So far it is totally waterproof, snow proof and easy to set up .Built quality is good and design practical ,it's what i wanted,a large bivy...I received it in November and i used it rigth away in temperature between 15c and minus 15c ( i live in nothern Québec ) ,it works well for autum and winter , i guess spring and summer will be fine ....

very compact
very easy to put into a backpack, doesn't take much room. however the string things the tent came with confused me. had no idea what to do with them. i ended up throwing them but the tent works fine without them. works pretty well in rain and frost. 4.5/10

Reliable... great value
I have used this tent for two seasons in the backcountry. There is lots of room for me and my gear with no need to store equipment outside of the tent. I am 5'6" and it may be hard for people over 6'. It handled very heavy rain and snow exceptionally well (I used it on a winter camping trip). I switched out the heavy (and not so helpful) aluminum pegs for MSR pegs and brought the weight down to around 2.5 pounds. I've been very happy with the tent because it is strong and well built. I don't think that one can get a better tent for the price. I find it much better than higher priced ultralight 3-season tents. It is more durable than the Big Agnes and certainly better than MSR single person shelters.

My new summer home
It literally arrived about 20 minutes ago, so I've only just taken it our of the box, but I can say this about it so far.... it arrived 2 days early, and it was on sale. Not sure if that's because Eureka is going out of business, but either way, on sale is on sale.If even half of the reviews on this tent are true, then I have every confidence that this little shelter will be with me for years to come

Slept in this for 21 DAYs straight!!
Withstood 21 days in Death Valley, CA. Will use it next year too!Like:- Full coverage fly with ability to roll back for star gazing- Easy set-up, simple two pole tunnel- Roomy for a 1 person bivy/tent and has a little porch (perfect for putting smaller gear and clothes inside)- 2 enteriesDislike:- Not the lightest on the market, overall pretty impressed in regards to the price.
