I have not taken them apart but I think I could replace the plastic washer with a metal one if it broke (as reported by many people giving 1 star reviews.)Looking at the other offerings here at Amazon for the price of this pair you could usually get just a single stretcher that does width but not length.One 1 star review mentioned that they received 2 right foot stretchers and not 1 left and 1 right. I had thought it normal for both of them to be identical but I do need to look into that.With 2 stretchers instead of one you can do both shoes at once which is a real time saver.

I bought these shoe stretchers because shoes usually don't come in my size so I have to buy 1/2 size larger or smaller than my feet. The shoe stretchers are a lifesaver for my comfort. Pop them in your shoe, tighten the stretcher a little and let your shoes just sit there for a day or 2 and WOW they feel great! So glad I purchased these! Good price for 2 shoe stretchers

I have to agree with those who have said that a metal washer would be much better. The plastic washer that pushes against the fore piece that goes into the foot as the tail piece is pulled to the rear by the threaded rod deforms and breaks easily. Fortunately, as has been demonstrated, replacing the plastic washer with a fender washer is simple and takes very little time and effort.

I have other brands that just broke when I first tried to use them. So when I read about this one having "metal" parts instead of plastic I jumped at the chance to get a set. Guess what? One of the things broke on the first try! They have a " metal " part that rides along the screw, which is still plastic, that helps the point spread the stretcher open. This is made out of some very soft "metal". Pewter or white metal or something. So there is no difference in quality then the other junk out there. A very good plastic probably would do just as good !!!

It worked great on my Born leather loafers. I kept it on my loafers for a week and can feel the difference afterwards. My loafers feel a bit wider and more comfortable. I'm going to keep using these on my loafers when not in use to get it more comfortable.

Good product that breaks to easy! Needs more pegs to do a better job

Very flexible to use with an assortment of attachments. It does take a little bit of effort to get it set the way I want it. The shoes I have used it on have not been leather - so I find that it takes a while to make a significant change.

'Work well, but care is required to avoid breaking. I stretched one pair of shoes over a two-day period by increasing the tension in small increments, and giving the shoes a chance to stretch gradually. 'Didn't include the Plastic Accessory pressure relief plugs though, which caused a 1-star down-rating.
