I have no lights in my backyard, so when I hear anything back there and want to take a look, it's pretty much pitch black. So I wanted something that would cast a little light on my entry door... it didn't need to light up the whole yard. I bought this light because it was only $20 (at the time), so I wanted to get a baseline for luminance before spending more on something I thought would be bright enough.My first impression was that it was smaller than I expected, but it looks nice. Installation was simple. It's very light, so 1 supplied screw into my aluminum siding is more than enough. The fixture is too tall to use both screws on a single lap of siding, but the 1 screw at the top seems fine.It was only in daylight (not sun light) for about an hour, but the thing was still lit when I went to sleep 7 hours later. So charge time seems extremely good, makes great use of incoming light, and/or doesn't use much energy to operate.The attached photo shows the placement of the light, and the door that I wanted to light off my 'work-in-progress' patio. It's about 10 feet away. When in normal operation (dim), it's not very bright at all. However, now when I look out my kitchen window there, I can easily see my entry door basked in what looks exactly like moon light. At first, that's what I thought it was. Same luminance, same hue. But no, the moon wasn't out, it was the solar light. That's fine for my needs, I just wanted to be able to see the door at night.When motion is detected (probably around 13 feet away) and it goes bright, it's fairly bright for its size. Maybe like a 10-15 watt bulb bright? It lights up my whole patio fairly good.In conclusion, I have no need to look for another light. This guy does the job. And the neighbors behind me don't need to worry about a blazing flood light in their windows at night. That's nice too.

Great product. It was rather expensive for this type of light. The solar panel is actually too flat to be most efficient at our latitude. It should be about 45 degrees to catch the most sun and this is flatter. What this has over other solar lights is the cover over the LEDs. This softens the glare. We positioned this light on our steps of our porch and at night it lights the steps beautifully. On and rainy overcast day I found it only lit up the steps for a couple of hours. This was enough. A full day of sun and it does stay on all night. I would recommend this product.

I purchased 2 to put out by the barn doors. So far they work as advertised but made of cheap thin plastic, how long they will last is debatable. When I purchased the price was 19.95 and seemed like a good value for the price. I was asked by older parents to get them 2 for their porch lighting but now they are 32.95 While the lights work they are in no way worth the increased price, for the increased price there are other much higher quality lighting options available.

I was having problems with raccoons getting in my chicken coop. I lost 8 hens. I tried this light, 2 actually, and even though I placed them in an area that has a lot of shade they work really well. The light stays on, dim, but when activated a brighter light comes on, red lights flash back and forth, and an alarm sounds. I have not lost a hen since.

I've had this solar light up for a couple of months now and it has performed wonderfully. No need to change battery. No maintenance. Best motion sensor light I ever bought. It's made me start to consider installing solar panels on my roof. I hope Cosmically Solar makes more of such solar products. I'd gladly buy it again and again.

I purchased 3 of these. So far two works and the third sounds the alarm all the time no matter what I do. Then, I find out there is no return policy--what a joke. The advertisement indicates they are reliable--really?I would stay away from these--they were not cheap to buy and wasted my money. I am very upset and will look at my options to deal with this problem.Gordon Spaulding

Overall it's performed "okay" in mid-Michigan, USA. NOTE that if you live in a frequently rainy or overcast area, this is NOT a good idea for you to purchase. If you live in a sunny environment, this is a great purchase. I have a mix of both where I live, so a solid 3-stars it is.

I love these lights. Fit the bill perfectly. Solar powered, lightweight, easy to put up, inexpensive, good looking. I bought two to place above my sliding glass door on my back deck. Now if a motion turns the lights I can guess something is out there.. This includes possums and racoons!! Thank you Cosmically Solar. I will be buying more for the rest of the house windows and doors and to hang on trees near the driveway. I probably will go overboard with them but they are duch a cool product and I honestly feel more secure now that I have these solar powered motion detector lights. :-)
