3.5 "Damsel-in-distress" Stars
I’m always up for a damsel-in-distress type of romance. The guys are usually all alpha and sexy and protective and Malachim didn’t disappoint. This being the second installment in the series, there’s a little you need to get up to date regarding Malachim’s job situation. He’s a lawyer and his license has been suspended pending an investigation. Because of this, a lot of his employees and clients have left leaving him in a wee bit of a bind.Danielle (formerly known as Helena) has been running from her ex-husband for the last two years of her life. Although currently in prison, her abusive ex has sworn to never let her go, forcing her to flee and assume a new identity. A lawyer in her former life, Danielle gets a job as a paralegal at Malachim’s firm. While Malachim knows betrayal and isn’t willing to trust anyone nor is he looking for a relationship, he can’t deny Danielle is more than alluring. At the same time, Danielle can’t believe that the cocky but aloof lawyer that is now her boss is making her feel things she thought were dead for her. With neither of them willing or able to be open with each other, it was hard for me to completely connect to either. Malachim’s protective instinct, though, bought him several brownie points and endeared him to me. I liked how the process of his changing feelings was done.Danielle was one hell of a resilient woman. After being abused for years in every way possible, she kept being dealt with one crappy hand after another. Time and again she rallied, persevered and finally triumphed over everything making her more than awe-inspiring.I did find their inner musings a bit on the long side. I understand they had to resolve issues within themselves, but I have to be honest here and admit that I skimmed over more than one of their self-psychoanalyses until I got to some interaction again. With action, suspense, a touch of romance and some sexiness thrown in, Malachim was a good story I enjoyed and I’m very curious about the others in this series.

OMG!!!!!
My first book by this author.....I just don't have the words to describe this story but I'll try. Danielle has changed her name and left her abusive husband while he was in jail. She takes a job at Malachims law office as a paralegal ( she used to be a lawyer in her old life). Malachim has been betrayed by an ex fiancee and his father. But he knows Danielle is lying to him but he can't stay away. She is skittish around men but she is trying to take back her life. When people she cares about are getting hurt, she knows it's her ex and it's time to leave.Fantastic book..strong woman who finally realizes not all men are like her husband. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

Malachim must convince Danielle she can trust him, but can he convince himself to trust her
Naima Simone has sent me through a gambit of emotions reading this book. I love it when a book grabs me in the first chapter and even better when it's in the first paragraph!Elena has succumbed to her abusive husband one too many times and she's done. She escapes his manipulations and begins her new life as far away as she can afford to go.While all of her fellow employees at the diner and her boss know her as Danielle, Elena still hides her identity from everyone except her sister.Danielle's boss convinces her to apply for a job opening for a paralegal position at a Law Firm that is under observation and scrutiny by Officials and the competition! She tries her best to prove that she is an asset to her new boss without making him suspicious of the extent of her legal knowledge and experience.Malachim knows Danielle is hiding something, and yet he can't help but feel that what she's hiding won't hurt him. His trust issues are deep seated, thanks to his ex-fiancee and his father, but there is something about Danielle that he knows he can help her with. If she'll only trust him enough to let him in.Both Mal and Danielle are thrown into a whirlwind of unexpected hurtles as she is mugged, the diner is robbed, trusts are tested, danger is lurking, and their feelings for each other start to simmer! This is #2 in the Secrets and Sins series and I read it first! Of course!I'm hooked and have to get the others! But it does amazingly well as a stand alone novel as well!

...wonderful blending of action and suspense, mystery and heat. It’s a must-read!
Malachim by Naima Simone is Book 2 of the Secrets and Sins Series. Even though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This is the third book I’ve read by Ms. Simone, and as with the other two, I wasn’t disappointed. Malachim is a heart tugging romance that will knock you on your ass and keep you glued to your seat as you inhale all the wonderful, heady words that Ms. Simone has artfully strung together in this fantastic contemporary romance. This has a wonderful blending of action and suspense, mystery and heat. It’s a must-read! Malachim was a hard book to put down and I devoured it in one sitting. Honestly, after reading this one, I’m going to be grabbing up all of this author’s books and reading them. For anyone who hasn’t read this author’s work, I suggest you get started ASAP!

Must be reading a different book!!
Found this quite hard going, didn't feel any connection between the two characters at all. This book has pages where there is no dialogue between the characters and they were in the same room!!! Other reviews said you could read this as a standalone but personally I don't think you can, there was just not enough background on what these friends had done. This just felt very disjointed to me, why a mother who has these good friends who then had these four men that these books are about would standby while her husband was awful to her son is beyond me, to suddenly leave when he is 35 is ridiculous, the damage unfortunately has been done!! Won't be reading the others, too hard going.

enjoyable read.
For some unknown reason I thought this book was about vampires have no idea why, kept thinking when he gonna turn?, then realised nope it's not happening!, anyhoo, good mystery romance, loads and loads of drama, great back story with Elena/Danielle and a few twists you don't see coming. This is book two out of the four but I didn't feel I missed out on loads, but wouldn't mind reading book one to see how it all started. Malachim (great name) was the perfect hero, noble, kind and strong, he slayed all of Danielle's dragons and made her trust again. Will definitely look out for books three and four.

Very enjoyable.
I really enjoyed this book. It's well written (something I always appreciate) and I loved the characters. Unlike many other romance novels, this one actually has a plot. It has lots of excitement and just the right balance of steam, sweetness and plot.
