Lonely Planet Quechua Phrasebook & Dictionary

I recently purchased a English-Quechua-Spanish dictionary to take with me on my trip to Peru, It was easily 5 times the size of this little pocket reference, yet contained exactly zero useful information. I looked up many words that would be useful in conversation, like Hello, good morning, etc, and it did not contain even these simple words. The moment I received this little pocket reference, I opened it up to find exactly what I was looking for, and I learned more in one minute, than I did from looking up phrases on the internet and from attempting to use that other book. So guess which book I'm keeping close to me on my trip.

Excellent little Quechua (Cuzco variety) written by an outstanding scholar, Serafín Coronel-Molina. This should be a quick reference not only for travelers, but any fieldworker going to the Southern Peruvian Andes should have this little book at hand. Highly recommended for its clarity, engaging prose, and very clear layout. If you are studying Quechua, this is what you'll keep in your pocket!

Very handy in conjunction with lessons from a native speaker. 10/10, would buy again.

Certainly nice to have. If hanging out in Cusco, really would not need it. But if traveling through the rural Andeas, it is good to be at a level of Quechua to be polite.

I'd almost given up the search for a book like this! This is a great little (perfect travel-sized) book, written by a native speaker. The pages are well laid-out so that the quechuan words - often quite long - are easy to see, there's guidance on how to pronounce them, and the usual categories grammar, getting around, accommodation, food... Highly recommended!!

My daughter is travelling to Peru in May. I purchased this phrase book for her as she wants to be able to communicate with the locals on her travels. She was thrilled with it.
