pricey but it works beautifully
UPDATE: I have had this cushion now for 4 years and have loaned it out to at least 5 klutzy family and friends. The cushion is just as firm and useful as it was new. The durability of this product is excellent and I still highly recommend it for comfort and stability of injured lower limbs.I bought this for use after ankle surgery. I've had previous foot surgeries and sprained ankles so I know keeping your foot elevated is important. But trying to balance your foot/leg on a stack of pillows is uncomfortable and can hurt when your foot slides off - ow! Other foam block products can work but when that pain killer finally works and you drift off to sleep...wham, your foot falls off and you are wide awake and in pain again. This product has sides that prevents your foot from falling off which is a huge help. The foam is rigid but not hard - there is enough "give" to be comfortable. I am very tall and long legged (36" inseam) and this elevator fit me and my Cam boot perfectly. My foot didn't hang off the end. Anyone shorter should have no issue with the height/length. I must say I think the product is over-priced but since it's the only one I've found with sides and it works nicely I don't regret paying the price.

Ideal Support for Leg Elevation
This is more of a "leg support" than a pillow, but it worked really well for me after I had some lower leg surgery. A couple of features are a key part of why it works so well. (1) It does not sag like many other pillows do. Your leg will be elevated and stay elevated. (2) The foam material is perfect to function as a "grip" on bed sheets as long as you do not cover it up. So the support does not slide easily or fall off the bed like many pillows. While the foam material is not soft or comfortable to lay your leg on, what I did was buy some soft baby receiving blankets and put two of them on the top side. This cushioned the entire bottom and sides where your leg goes, but left the bottom with the foam exposed to hold its place on the bed sheet. I bought two sets of these blankets so I can easily swap out a set to get a clean one when I need it.One other plus is that while the photos show the support as a ramp that leaves the ankle and foot at the peak, you can actually reverse it and have the knee at the peak and then let the lower leg go down the ramp. That adds another function for someone who just has knee surgery and needs to keep the knee and not the ankle elevated.Others have commented on the price, but after using this for two weeks I can assure you it is worth every penny. It is well made and functions perfectly. And it is packaged and shipped cleverly--they vacuum seal a package to flatten it for a box, and then when you break the seal it rebounds to its intended shape.

Don't waste the money, you can make this easily
Honestly, the one star I'm giving this is just for the fact that it arrived in a timely manner (although I paid for next-day shipping). This is in NO way worth the $53 I paid for it, and I'm keeping it only because it arrived squashed 3" thick like it was in a space bag, and I'll never get it back into the same box to go back...not to mention I don't feel like throwing away more money to return it.The foam has little chunks missing from the edges, like it's been chewed. The 'channel' for your leg is not as deep as what's pictured, and it was carved out unevenly where it starts to slope downwards. We have a fine-grit sandpaper wheel on a drill, so we were able to even it out, but this product is still a joke for the money. Unfortunately, the joke's on the consumer.Just be aware, you can go to a home goods store, buy a big piece of foam, shape it, and carve out the channel yourself for probably $10 bucks and fifteen minutes of your time. I wish I'd known earlier, but I was the idiot who came home from foot surgery and ordered this "amazing idea of a helpful product!". I blame the painkillers I was on. Hmph.

My favorite find for foot surgery!!!
For knee or foot surgery this is a must!! One of the best finds I came across I purchased prior to surgery. I do have an adjustable bed, but this was even more convenient and a better reminder for me to stay put. It was very comfortable, cushiony enough to not put any undue pressure, yet firm enough where your foot will not fold into it. It did not bother me while sleeping for the most part, you do get used to that part. One thing to note, It does tear up, especially if you have to wear the boot even while in bed. I placed a thin travel blanket over it and it was fine for me. You do have to adjust every once in awhile, which means pulling it up closer to you. After six weeks of daily use, and adjustments, I only had a small tear in the left hand corner. I was planning on using this for only this surgery, but I do believe I will be able to use it for my next one as well. And the last thing to note is it will work for either left or right leg elevation.

Great for Post-Op Knee Recovery but One Minor Flaw
This is a great product with one minor flaw. The product is perfect for recovery after a knee surgery. I am post-op a total knee replacement by almost a week. The first three days, before this cushion arrived I was using pillows. It was a mess to keep them comfortable and in place. I purchased this per recommendation of my father who had his knee done earlier this year. The cushion works great in either my recliner or my bed. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is the material is a bit "clingy". Once your leg is on the cushion there is no moving or adjusting your leg, the cushion won't allow it, it grips to much. I easily remedied the problem by laying a queen sized pillow case over the top of the cushion. The pillow case was almost long enough to cover the entire length and was wide enough that when my leg was on the cushion, it covered the entire width. This made the cushion perfect and allowed me to move and adjust my leg as needed.
