Great for weak grip.
Has been the best can opener I’ve had. Hands weak? Can’t hang on? This worked like a charm. 7 yrs later, it was misused and won’t work now came to get another.

Update 8/25/24I had an idea to try to turn the handle in the opposite direction from one I always use. And it worked great. I can do that. So, it still works. I am not replacing it yet.Update 8/24/14This can opener has finally started to break. It lasted since 4/10/20. It opened about 2 cans a week on average.I feel if I was paying attention to the task at hand, and not allow it to "stray" from the path close to the edge, toward the center, and not rush it, it might not have broken.Certainly they could make an opener that one could use mindlessly, and not cause it to break. But this one lasted over 4 years. And with care, could maybe last more.Updated review, 4/3/22I have this can opener for about 2 years now. It still works the same as new: smooth, no sharp edges, easy to use.I attribute longevity of this product to the design: it locks it self before you turn the nob. This causes it to stay in grove, and not to take a bad trajectory which would cause it to bend and spread out and stop working right. It is not obvious that this product would work well and last a long time, from just looking at it. It looks like it is made from plastic.I really appreciate that someone took care to design for longevity. This is rare in our day and age. Companies seem to design for definite delayed demise instead.Old review, 4/10/20I had ordered a different one before, it worked well, but it broke. So I searched for something more rugged.I could not find what I was looking for.So I went with reviews, and bought this one. It is sweet. While it does not impress due to its plastic looks, it works very smoothly. And it locks it self into place, before one starts cranking on it. I believe this feature should make it last longer. Because my old one got messed up because I was not able to hold it completely shut, and caused it to choose a bad trajectory, which caused it to bend, despite the fact it was all metal. So good design in plastic, I feel will last longer then bad design in metal. And this one is much smoother and easier to crank then my previous all metal one.

Did NOT work for me!
Of the several can openers I have tried since my old standby SwingAway finally got dull, none have worked for more than a year. This one never opened one can without problems! I may have gotten a defective one as others have given it decent reviews. I was heartbroken as I really tried to research this and went by other reviews. Fortunately, I found a very simple Ecko can opener in my utensils drawer. I have no memory of ever having this, it just appeared one day. It works absolutely fine and (for now at least) my can opening problems are over! I had to give this can opener one star only in order to post this review.

Best Handheld Can Opener, Easy to use!
The media could not be loaded. Throw away all your other can openers. I have had it for 3 years now and recommend it to all my friends. This can opener with locking mechanism is the Best! It is super easy to turn. Once it is locked in it is smooth sailing and your lid is opened. Another great gift for christmas stocking stuffer or to add to a kitchen gift basket.

Opens cans and has a magnet
After my decade old can opener decided it was going to start getting stuck, I bought this one. After getting through the packaging, which wasn't that hard but I can't imagine falls under Amazon's frustration-free packaging program as it requires scissors, I recruited my cats to help me with my first use with a can of tuna. They were confused at first because one of the ways they know tuna is coming is by the familiar clank of the old metal opener but this one didn't clank, but snapped, as I hit the handle release button. Once I grabbed their bowls though, they understood and got happily on board. Now with two, suddenly-starving, hobo-kitties teaming up to headbutt both the tuna can and the can opener out of my hand, I pressed down the handle and the metal sank easily into the side as the handle locked on with a snap. It was satisfying.Upon the first turn of the crank, I noticed it was far smoother than the old red-handled one I have been using. In fact, it was just smooth. I did have in my head that it would somehow go through with almost no resistance and I have to say that there was some but overall it was pretty easy. After making it the full 360 degrees around and skillfully avoiding having it knocked out of my hand by two very determined but not very helpful kitties, I wondered how this magnetic lid remover was going to work. So I unlocked the handle and removed the can opener but to my surprise, the lid didn't come off. After further inspection, I realized the magnet isn't part of the cutting mechanism and is instead on a different surface. I snapped the magnet to the lid and it stuck right to it. It worked, but it was a bit awkward and I got tuna water on the crank. I have to say, it was probably 50% easier than taking it out by hand but putting that in context, removing a can lid without a magnet is a pretty simple task so even though it was helpful, I'd rate it more of a gimmick for anyone with enough dexterity to open a can with a manual opener in the first place.Since its an easy feature to miss, I'll probably smugly show it to my girlfriend just to cement my place as knowing about more useless things than she does, we'll talk about it for 10 seconds and neither of us will think about using it again. After rinsing it off and putting it in the drawer where the old one lived, I noticed it takes up a lot more space but it still fits. Now I sit and listen to two hobo-kitties happily shlurp and shlomp and chomp their participation reward while I finish up this review. 4 stars.

Best manual can opener in the world!
This is the best can opener I've ever owned. I've had it for 6 1/2 years and it works like new. It locks on the can and works smoothly.
