Can't beat it for the price...
I purchased this cable because I have a 7.2 surround system and a very large room to run cable across. My rear surround speakers are 30 feet away, including wall and attic feed. I do not have the budget to be running Monster cable when it is all copper anyway. I have been an audiophile for over 30 years now and I have verified numerous times that more expensive (speaker) wire doesn't always mean better sound. Maybe optical and HDMI cables can make a difference but not speaker wire. This spool is fantastic in sound and construction. RCA never seems to let me down with their select products and this is yet another winner in my book. It is not only affordable, but well constructed and perfect for the job. I tested the difference by using one of my thicker gauge, "high performance" cables from a leading competitor and there is no difference in quality, noticeable to the naked ear. If you have serious grade fronts like Definitive Technology speakers or Polk Audio, then I'd suggest a higher grade/gauge cable like I am running on my Wharfedale's. However, for my Klipsch, wall-mounted rear surrounds and the Infinity side surrounds, this is the right fit and you will need nothing else. Don't waste your money! Also, use seriously high grade cable for your subs, if you have a Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES or THX-Certified system. This DOES make a difference and besides, it should be coax cable anyway...

Speaker Wire
it's speaker wire, it's 16 gauage speaker wire. I bought 14 and 18 guage wire to make sure I was getting the right wire. I used the 14 for the longer wire pulls (greater than 12 feet) and 16 guage for the shorter 10' pulls. I didn't use the 18 guage at all. The wire has 2 (two) different colored wires, one silver the other is gold. I used some great banana plugs that screw on from a company called Sewell, the plugs were on sale for about 5 bucks for a pack of 10.( http://www.amazon.com/Pair-Banana-Plugs-Screw-Connectors/dp/B003EGIE2S/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1288442903&sr=8-3-fkmr0 ) I installed surround sound 7.1 speakers 8 (speakers). The banana plugs make changing the receiver around so much easier, you don't have to un-screw the speaker wires so much. The sound is great, it's so realistic, it fools my dog. Technology today has change so much, but speaker wire is still so important. You can't cheap out on speaker wire. That doesn't mean you have to buy super expensive wire. Amazon had/has the best price for great cable, they beat the big box stores prices and quality hands down. Everything I ordered came days before it was promised. Amazon does a great job even if the products are dropped shipped. When people ask what I want for my birthday or xmas I tell'm give me a card from Amazon, i'll find something there. Great store, great products, great prices. Dan Hux Raleigh, NC

best speaker cable for most home theaters
I have a 7.1 home theater large enough for a 6 to 9 reclining seating capacity. This 16-gauge speaker cable is high quality with RCA logo and specifications printed on one side of the cable with white stripe. I always standardize on white stripe or RED as the "hot" or "+" to keep the sound polarity consistent. This cable has the white stripes. The only issue was that the 100ft length wasn't enough for my setup, which meant that I had to buy two reels for a total of 200ft. The challenge with this is that at some point you'll have leftovers from both reels that may or may not be usable if you don't plan this right. So, plan ahead and cut the LONGEST cables first to prevent having to merge two cuts into one run. Excellent cable and strongly recommended. ----------------- Turns out that Amazon doesn't allow multiple reviews for the RCA speaker cables even though they are different types. The above review was for the RCA 100ft 16 gauge cable where below is for the "RCA AH50N 50Ft 24-Gauge speaker" cable. Unlike the 16-gauge cable, the 24-gauge cable looks and feels cheap, but sounds just fine. However, I bought this not for speaker, but to extend sensor cable for the "Control Products HS-700 Freezealarm Homesitter Multi-Functional Alarm Dialer with Audible Alarm" I have this setup installed in my sump pump to "call" me if there is any water, temperature, or power issues at the house while I'm away. The 24 gauge cable works perfectly for this purpose as well as for speakers, but my preference is to use 16 gauge for my $$$$ home theater.

Great Wire, Not the Best Cable
I purchased this Wire, to get my surround sound system set up, and I needed a good amount of wire, without a big cost. This Wire is great, and delivers sound perfectly. The only problem is the actual Cable (Wire casing, wire exterior, etc). It is rather hard to cut the outer cable off, to get to the actual wire. Many times I would accidentally cut the wire while trying, and had to start again. Then again, This was a great price, and I didn't expect the best wire casing, so I got what I paid for. Still, wire works perfectly.

Good wire, cheaper than best buy.
This wire works great. Is very easy to work with and is flexible. Bought this from Amazon and some Rocketfish 16gauge at best buy. At fisrt glace the Rocketfish looks like it is twice as big for the same gauge, but that is simply because the rubber coating around the Rocketfish wire. The cores are practically identical in actual size. I like that the RCA wire is easy to fit into cable hiders for my rear speakers verses the Rocketfish which is bulky and heavy, but at the same time liked the Rocket fish on my fronts and may not even use cable hider up there because it is so heavy it lays perfectly flat on our floor and you don't even notice it even though there are three strands of it laying on top of each other going along the wall up and behind the stereo cabinate. So yeah, they both seem to be good wire, I got two spools of 100ft RCA wire for less than I paid for one 50ft roll of the Rocketfish at BB, so in terms of better bang for the buck the RCA win's in every aspect.

Good for setting up surround sound. Working well in 7.1 setup. No issues, good quality wire, doesn't break.

I found the roll of speaker wire and excellent purchase. It is of decent quality and you get quite a bit on a roll for settings up hardwired speakers. I have been purchasing this brand over the years and never had an issue with it. Yes there is better quality but this wire still has quality.
