excellent for ps2. Makes the ps2 able to play ps1 games on newer tvs. Amazing picture quality.
This worked EXCELLENT. I thoguht my ps2 lazer was bad because it would not play ps1 games tho it played ps2 games fine (or so i thought). I Tried everything, even got a ps1. Turns out the ps1 wouldnt play games either. Then i realized it was my TV all along was not accepting the 240p signal from the ps1 at all, and my ps2 seemed to not play ps1 games because the ps2 flips from 480i to 240p output when playing ps1 discs, SO my newer (2021) smart tv was not reckognizing the output! Used this chord, and PROBLEM SOLVED! PS2 now plays PS1 games on my newer tv perfectly fine! The QUALITY of the output is ACTUALLY stunning! It really is. I dont even remeber these games looking this good when i was a kid playing them on the old fat screen and plasma tvs they were built for! Both PS2 and PS1 games EASILY look 2-3x better, the higher RES PS2 games such as jak2/3, newer mx vs atv ect games that were made in higher resolutions- see the biggest improvement! But ALL look DRASTICALLY better. This is a VERY good hdmi chord for the ps2. have not tried on the ps1. sure its the same deal id assume. they are the same exact chord sockets/ wire pin layout. and the switch goes to 4/3.. so it should be great for the ps1 itself... amazing for the ps2, AMAZINGER for high res PS2 games.

Works and displays colors properly without white bars.
Works and looks quite clear. After changing to RGB the colors are all fine and the option to force 4:3 is welcome on an ultrawide monitor.

Great for PS2
Fantastic converter and well worth the price. I hooked it up to the PS2 Slim over the weekend and it worked perfectly. No lag and picture looked great. I did use an HDMI extension cord since the cord wasn't long enough.

A mixed bag. I'll explain...
I ordered two of these, one for my PS1 and one for my PS2. One worked great and one did not. I tested both Hyperkin units with both consoles and switched them, too. One unit was determined to be defective, so I returned it for a replacement. By defective, I mean that the video and audio signals would skip in and out intermittently. The takeaway from this is that there appears to be at least some propensity for factory defective devices. My suggestion is this: If you can't get your unit to work, consider swapping it out with a replacement. It's probably not your fault that it's not working. As for the functional unit I installed, it's working well and functions as described. Easy to install and configure, cable length is excellent, instructions are pretty clear, etc. I haven't encountered the discoloration or input lag others have reported. No complaints there. Just try it out and test it for yourself. Chances are that you'll be pleased.

Best budget upscaler by far
Great way to display PlayStation 2 content on modern displays with little to no lag, visual artifacts, or color issues. It even displays 240 P games effortlessly.

The best refund you can order.
Didn't work, the tv states the signal is not compatible. I could swear the customer service is made of ninjas that are working in the shadows without being detected, because I haven't received any response in two weeks. I'm getting a refund on this one.

What Dale would have wanted
Who says this looks bad? It's completely fine for a $20 solution to playing my PS2 again. I gotta say, I have an OLED so maybe that helps with the picture quality. But seriously overall this is awesome to have if you want to play your old consoles again. It's very easy to set up, only needing a USB 5V to plug into for power, and now I'm ripping around in NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona again. Ya know, funny thing. My dad, more than anything, wanted me to be a NASCAR driver growing up, and I was down with it. I grew up in a racing family. My grandpa was a stock car racer. My dad never raced but he has always been a huge NASCAR fan. He bought me a whole go-kart to race semi-pro when I was a kid, which I did for 3 seasons. The problem was, my dad was kind of an a-hole, so it was never very fun for me. I quit after the 3rd year, and gave up on it. My grandpa died in a car crash a few years later. Then, a couple years ago, I decided to boot up my PS2 and crack into NASCAR Thunder 2004 for the first time since I was a kid. It was fun, but it really felt like it needed a wheel to be maximum fun. I ordered a Logitech wheel for PS2 and it transformed the experience into something else entirely. It took me back to those days with my dad. Playing these old NASCAR games reminded me of why I used to love racing so much. Since then, I started watching NASCAR again, and talk to my dad on a weekly basis about something we both love. I finally visited him again for Christmas and got to spend some genuine quality time with him, and I wasn't mad at him for my childhood anymore. I understood that he was just lonely after him and my mom split up, and that holding onto racing was a connection to how we used to spend time as a family. He still loves NASCAR, and he still watches it every week. Now I do too, and it brought us back together. So I guess you could say, the adapter works. Love you Dad. Update: after a few uses, the adapter stopped working. Just glitching the video in and out of a black screen. Stopped talking to Dad.

If you want better quality just buy component cable if your tv support it... Much better image quality

Easy to setup, just plug in the HDMI cable to the tv, plug in the display cable to the PS2, and plug in the USB power into a USB socket such as a power bar. Display is crisp and the colour is really good. Top notch piece of gear for a ridiculously affordable price. There’s a lot of similar cables on the market, but Hyperkin’s is likely the best. They’re quite reputable and I’ve had good results with previous pieces of their equipment. This has made me just as happy. I did have an issue with a new Sony 4K TV where the HDMI connection would drop every 15 minutes or so (screen goes black with no audio for 2-3 seconds) but this was not an issue with the cable. Turned out it was also rarely doing it with other HDMI inputs like my Nintendo Switch. It was resolved after doing a TV update, so if you’re running into any issues like this when using this cable, it’s pretty much guaranteed to not be the cable’s fault. Try doing a hardware update for your TV which will likely resolve it. I’ve previously tried another brand of a cheap AV2HDMI component to HDMI cable for my PS2 and had very poor results with it (blurry image). Hyperkin’s product is top of the line as far as what’s on the market for inexpensive HDMI cables for PS2 if you want to avoid having to invest in a really expensive, high end upscaler.
