Not Remotely Hot. Can Be Used In So Many Creative Ways.
Just ordered for a third time. Such a rich and lovely flavor. Can be used as a basic stock for many things outside of a "curry". I've used it as a base for different stews, soups and broths. I've genuinely used it as a substitute base for my favorite leak and potato combination, and it resulted in a lovely different take. Don't be put off by the "extra hot" label. This is not to be compared with your spicy curries from other cultures. It is barely even warm on the tongue, which is one of the reasons I came back to this; as it gives you the freedom to add whatever levels of heat you wish to via your own ingredients. Extremely versatile, with it's own unique flavor.

Classic Japanese Curry taste
This is the Japanese curry you’re looking for. Don’t worry, it’s Japanese hot, which is to say it’s not hot at all by U.K standards.

Wonderful flavour, easy to prepare, hassle free.
UPD: 18/09/2024I have continued to buy these regularly, and am continuously satisfied. If you haven't tried these yet, go for it! :)Update: 9/9/23:Still purchasing these curry blocks every month. I highly recommend them! :)-------------------Delivery was fast, product in perfect condition and I thoroughly recommend these Japanese curry cubes. 3rd purchase! After experiencing the taste of this curry, have no intention of buying sauces from supermarkets again, besides the odd Pataks paste. My only gripe, is that there is palm oil included as an ingredient. If the manufacturers can come up with another ingredient that doesn't contribute to destroying our environment, indigenous communities and wildlife habitats, my mind would be put at ease. The flavour is perfectly balanced, so you don't need to add salt or soy sauce, however it isn't very spicy. My tummy can't handle very hot food, so is ideal for me, however, if you like a kick, add some chillies or white pepper.Bonus Recipe idea: I like to prepare these in a similar fashion to Bisto. :)Start your cooking off, by frying your onions, garlic, other ingredients on a medium heat.Put 1/3 of a cup of rice in a pan, and wash through it twice with water, until it runs clear. Add enough water on top of the rice, that it hits the first segment of your index finger (sit your finger gently on top of the rice, to measure). Add another 1/3 of rice per person.Cook on medium/high for 8 mins, with the lid off, then turn the heat to low, and add some healthy bits, like green beans, kale, spinach, or frozen veg. Even them out on the top of the nearly cooked rice.Be aware of smells and sounds, you want to smell rice in the air and hear barely any sound from the pan. When the water has evaporated, take the rice off the heat, and put the lid on. The residual heat will cook the veggies.Break off one cube (2 servings per cube), put it in a bowl with half a mug of boiling hot water from the kettle, and stir, until the cube dissolves. When your fried/pan ingredients are cooked, stir the curry water one more time, before pouring it into the pan, and stir. You will see it thicken, due to the wheat flour in the cube, so add more water, to alter the consistency to your taste, and serve. You can't go wrong!25 min prep time, max, you KNOW what ingredients you put in your food, spent a fraction of the price of a takeaway and are absolutely satisfied by the end.Hope you try this one out! I like mine with canned tuna and a few canned potatoes. :)

Convenient and straightforward solution.
You do not need to make this to be the: “traditional Japanese curry with vegetables” style— you can make this your holy grail (simple/basic) soups without needing to add anything to it, and to add more extra heat to it, I would like to address that this wasn’t really “hot” at all so please add red chilli powder! truly makes a huge difference, which also goes well with tiger bread! Thankfully, brands like these don’t discontinue and I hope they do not, these make a huge improvement with cooking. Whether or not you don’t have the main ingredients, these blocks will be very useful to keep in your storage.Overall, I am not a huge fan of sloppy thick curries, but this can be adjusted with water to reduce slightly!
