LOVE
We love everything about these fans. We installed 2 of them back in June of 2022. They push a LOT of air. Look great & are quiet. My husband & I are actually patio builders & we recommend these to everyone. We've had several clients purchase them & they love them too.

How to wire to a normal wall switch
I haven't had this fan installed long but my first impressions are that it is a really solid outdoor fan and worth the money. Its very quiet, was perfectly balanced out of the box and it moves a lot of air on its highest setting. Plenty for my 10' x 17' patio area. The only part I don't like is how everything is controlled from the remote. The fan only has black (hot), white (neutral) and green (ground) wires, nothing switched. Where I was installing it, my house has black, white, ground and red (switched). If you follow the fan's instructions and match colors, then the red wire isn't used and the wall switch does not do anything. You have to use the remote to turn the fan on or off. However, I found that if I wire the fan's white and ground to the home's white and ground respectively but wire the fan's black wire to my house's red wire instead of my house's black wire (and cap my house's black wire), then the fan will come on and off with the wall switch and most importantly, the fan will remember the setting it was previously on. Since I live in Florida, I expect to have it on high almost all the time when I'm using it, so now the wall switch will work for me on its own 99% of the time and I won't have to bother with the remote. This wiring may be pretty basic knowledge for a lot of people out there, but it wasn't intuitive to me so I figured I would put it out there in case it helps someone else. Now that I have it wired the way I like it, I think it will be a great outdoor fan.

Quality with a capital Q
This fan will be used in an outdoor covered patio setting. We purchased the 24” extension rod. It is not compatible with the 6” rod that comes with the fan. The 65” blade length is excellent and pushes a lot of air flow. The packaging kept everything separated and very easy assembly. the design is top notch. We love it!

Outstanding Fan & Customer Service
I want to start with customer service but will focus on the fan first. Absolutely stunning and perfect for this damp climate. We have the setting on 4 because I think if it went any higher it would blow us away. Super easy install, I did it myself with a little help (lifting it up) from my hubby. I'm a ceiling fan snob and know quality when I see it. No need to look further, this is the one!On to customer service. I am now a lifetime customer and will purchase any fan in the future from Lighting & Locks. UPS said they delivered the fan on Thursday and we're still looking for the package. Lol I contacted Lighting & Locks and received an immediate response stating they would ship a new one immediately. I received it the next day (Friday). We also received a small surprise gc from Lighting & Locks. Now I'm going to go see what else they sell :)

Incredibly Let Down
I have been a Minka "fan" for many years having purchased over a dozen at prior coastal and other properties. I was able to source a total of Nine of this particular model fan for our new coastal retirement home together with a number of other Minka models for the indoor parts of the home. My experience with Minka previously has been stellar and on inquiry from neighbors have recommended Minka. I was finally able to install all nine in September 2021-- so they have been up for just at 7-months. All of them are rusting badly; and two have what sounds like bearings going bad. We live on a coastal river on a 30 foot bluff and no other lighting or hardware installed during this renovation are showing anywhere near this deterioration (if any at all). I am so let down and disappointed as they have been a great company in the past, but the location of manufacture is very telling as these fans in no way represent the quality of Minka for fans at this price point. I will have to eat some serious crow when my neighbors question me on this one. Sorry Minka -- you failed me badly on this one.

QUIET and SPINS AT 120rpms!
This is the third Fan we bought to go on our patio. The last two had a high CFM rating but we couldn't feel the air!!! This one is smaller but spins twice as fast and we finally feel the air.It is heavy and the blades were tricky to install.

Enjoying this fan immensely!
We had this fan installed by a professional electrician. We had bought both 12 and 18” Downrods. The electrician had used the 18” at first and it did swing on the highest speed, but on switching it over to the 12” down rod it’s perfect. It’s quiet and pushes a lot of air through an open concept kitchen/living room area. The electrician asked where we found it and said they have installed a number of Minka fans that people really enjoy, that they are great fans. This one is no exception, we’re very happy with it. The remote is great for changing speeds since it’s high up. We do have it wired to a switch for on/off. So grateful to have it in this years summer heat, we can leave the AC temp higher and yet be nice and cool.
