Rapesco 1465 Metal Stapler with Built-in Staple Remover - Black

A well-priced, (virtually) all-metal stapler with an unusual addition. The "Rapesco 1465 Metal Stapler with Built-in Staple Remover - Black" is the first from Rapesco to also have the ability to remove staples, a function previously known to exist in a stapler from another brand, and also to function as a rudimentary letter opener. It has a rubberised grip section on the operating arm towards the front. The staple remover is of a basic lever type and firmly riveted to the upper portion of its base. The actual base is a hard plastic missing rubber or other such gripping inserts that may help its non-slip properties.Accepting both 24/6 and 26/6 staples in half-strip form, it will allow up to 20 sheets to be reliably bound. In addition to standard closed-form stapling, it also allows pinning and tacking, the latter into soft substrates such as cork rather than the hardwoods often used in furniture. It is a top-loader whose operating arm lifts to expose the load channel. The design suggests desktop operation only and the presence and location of its staple remover would make hand-held use uncomfortable were it actually practical. It came loaded with what appear to be 26/6 staples, a deviation from Rapesco's normal inclusion of a small pack of 1000 included with most.26/6 staples tend to be the least expensive of any size and gauge and the most widely available not only from mainstream stationery suppliers but locally from many supermarkets and some newsagents. The 24/6 staples are most likely to be obtainable only from stationers and, although only slightly thicker and stronger, are also considerably more expensive. Rapesco's own staples are lightly lubricated and generally work better than alternatives in their own machines.As with every other Rapesco stapler yet encountered, its feed is constantly reliable and jams infrequent and unlikely. It is perhaps slightly smaller than most half-strip models and would be useful in the home, workplace, retail environment etc as well as of possible use by students of any age. Pricing, as is typical of the brand, is very competitive.

This is a fairly standard half strip stapler that has a top load function. It takes size 24/6mm and 26/6mm staples, of course Rapesco recommend their own brand of staples, but any of this size should fit.The stapler has a non slip base, that also acts as a protection for your table top from scratches and it has a staple remover on the side. The staple remover is actually quite big, as I have seen other staple removers on Rapesco staplers, that just stick out of the back a little, but this is quite large and is actually more like a letter opener... which it can be used for. So it is quite useful if you have it on your desk, not only for stapling needs and removal of, but opening your mail too!It is fairly comfortable to hold unlike some staplers that are a bit boxy and cumbersome, this isn't too bad at all. The price is very reasonable if bought as an add on item. Not sure what the price is on its own though, so can't comment on value for money if bought individually.Overall, it is a good stapler.

The stapler comes preloaded with a half strip of staples (takes 26/6mm or 24/6mm 1/4" staples).What attracted me to this model was the unusual staple remover and when I first tried to use it I found it very difficult to hold and use effectively.Like all smart people I am left handed and I then realised the issue, it is designed for right handed uses and once I tried to use it in my right hand the staple remover works well (better grip in hand).However, I instinctively pick it up with my left hand so perhaps they should consider a version with the remover on the other side or make it interchangeable.The stapler works well as one would expect and the staple plate can be rotated to staple in or out and has a view window on both sides so you can see it still has a stock of staples in it and top it up before it runs out (top pulls up to permit loading).

This is a decent, robust half-strip stapler with a fair reach.It staples with a satisfying 'krunk' and does not jam.The staple remover is a practical addition and works very well.I used to use the pincer type removers but sliding (not prising) this fixed remover under a staple works very well.It works better than this standalone remover B000JTMC44, as it stacks the pulled staples up nicely whereas with the 'Extract-It' tool, they get jammed-up inside the device.OK, so it doesn't stand on its end -which I think all staplers should but apart from that it's just fine.-I've tried flat staplers and ones which promise to do 30 or 40 sheets but am happy with this traditional design for reliability and compatibility -uses standard No.56 staples.

This is a halfstrip stapler, that means it takes half a strip of standard staples, so probably not designed for high volume office stpler, but ideal for everyday use. The stapler's full steel chassis ensures a a firm stapling experience. This stapler comes with a built-on staple remover which proved effective. Beautifully styles, this stapler will need your name sticky-taped to the top of it to ensure it doesn't get permanently borrowed! Lovely effective stapler.
