Bukowski has many collections of work, scratching the surface is an intimidating task, not unlike confronting the prolific oeuvre of Joyce Carol Oates. I've read a few, from the early to very late and posthumous volumes. He's excellent when he connects and sticks landings, but as with Prince records there is often required a bit of wading to locate such pieces. This is one of the most consistent and solid books of the poet's I've encountered, encompassing the full gamut and range of his different styles and approaches. Highly worth investigating, if you're looking for a clean, polished showcase of strong writing this is the finest I've yet had the fortune of exploring.

it was a really good collection of bukowski's poetry. some of his best and most notable work is missing. a huge amount of poetry about the track. had i been editing the collection to be more cohesive and thematic i probably would have removed quite a bit of what was included and opted in for a number of others, especially with a title like this.
