Reads more like a critique of other Christian authors
I have only read the book halfway through but am struggling to read it to completion. So far I’ve found the foundational teachings of the book to be both true and necessary in the Christian life but the book to be lacking in direction for practical application. I’m actually left feeling wholly incompetent of leading a Christ, rather than self, centered Christian life. While there are great points to evaluate my greatest difficulty of the book is the overarching critique and judgement of other Christian authors and speakers. Throughout the book references are made and quotes are given to discredit these authors. It begins to feel like a political ad campaign where one candidate points out all the flaws in their opponent and, for me, it is extremely offputting. There is definitely value here, if you can sift it through the criticism.

Christ Focus= Life and Peace!
Just finished this book and I’m going to turn around and read it again. So wonderfully written, she articulated so many sneaky teachings and beliefs in Christian teaching that are centering our hearts and minds on ourselves instead of Jesus Christ. A must read for Christian women, many men could benefit from her teaching as well!

WHERE IS THE EDITOR???
This book is so superficial. Of COURSE Christians and non-Christians alike know that many people are self-absorbed but the author just goes on and on without offering any type of Christian solution. Even the Biblical quotes often have little to do with the points she is making. And the study questions were so bad that I was "volunteered" by out Bible Study group to rewrite the questions so that they would make sense. I cannot imagine that a good editor would have allowed this. Many of her theories were actually anti-Christian. Portraying Jesus as a victim??? A victim has no control over his or her circumstance and Jesus was in complete control of His destiny up until the very end (or should I say beginning?). She also made up her own little "parables" or stories to justify her simplistic and flawed thinking. The writing was chaotic and confusing and was definitely the poorest Bible Study I have ever been involved in. Most of us wanted to abandon the book, but decided that since we had already paid for it we needed to finish. I do not recommend this book for a serious student of the Bible.

Flourish - A timely reminder
Quick read about the growing cultural trend of self-improvement and self-reliance. A very good read for Christian women, girls and others. I will be delivering a review soon to a Ladies Bible Study group and my emphasis is on using the book to open our eyes to the trend and beware. I was hoping some reviewer might explain the sub-topic headings "Dig" and "Discern" in a few words that a group would understand. I am still looking for that.

Great book!
Well, started and finished this book in a couple of hours( to be fair, it’s relatively short) and am already planning to study it in a more in-depth way over the next month. A timely message for women, and I was both convicted and encouraged by it!

Rare jewel
Most of our problems come from an obsession with our self. We are called to be obsessed with our savior Christ instead. Thank you, Mrs. Brownback, for this rare jewel of teaching on how to get past our inward curve.

Great.
A great book, not like your best selling “Christian” books. This book is solid in its theology, and points you directly to Christ and not yourself.

Transformative
What a book! If you love the Gospel and have a more reformed/robust worldview, this is what you need! Amazing, thank you to the author
