On Doing Nothing: Finding Inspiration in Idleness

Just what I needed to read in a world that’s always moving fast

This is a very disappointing book, really nothing more than random musings by a creative dude. He cites many interesting thinkers, but often doesn't include an actual quote, so the reader just has to take his word for it. And while there are various sections on different aspects of "doing nothing," the paragraphs in each seem to jump from thought to thought with no logical connections nor even clear linkage to that section's supposed topic. This could have been a worthwhile book but instead is just a missed opportunity.

This book was really lovely! It's a good read for creative people who kind of need to get out of their own heads for a bit and do... well, nothing. The illustrations are lovely as well - Roman Muradov is one of my favorite artists and those offer enough inspiration on their own!A definite buy, and holds a place on my favorite's shelf!

For me, this book is as mind-expanding as ‘Sapiens’, albeit shorter and with more pictures - I’ve certainly ordered it for so many people on finishing it. Beautifully written, it is perfect for anyone who is interested in the creative process, thinking about writing or creating a piece of art, and feeling overwhelmed/procrastinating about it. I will be re-reading it for inspiration and gifting yet more copies at Christmas.

A little gem and beautiful read. Normally buy on Kindle but loved the hard copy of this so much I had to pick one up.

The words are so difficult that I need dictionary to understand most of the words I didn't finish the book though . I wish the words were easier to understand for everyone
