The additional straight in the previous review isn't a standard straight. Its required for the charging unit to plug into. unless you prefer a specific high end aftermarket controller, these are a great choice for a controller upgrade. Carrera's first wireless controllers used infrared technology which required direct line of sight with the receiver (it looked like a life size 1 quart oil container) so anytime you turned your body or someone walked in front of you, you lost the signal. The 2.4 Ghz work on radio frequency & are so much better. I have 100' track, 18' x 14' L shaped layout and I've never lost coverage anywhere near the track. I have 3 kids and the biggest advantage of this upgrade for me is being able to marshal the entire track and still drive my own car which is very hard to do with a wired controller.

It would have been nice if Amazon/Carrera would let customers know that when you are upgrading your Evolution carrera track that you need to purchase the Digital power controller system it only says that it will work on the evolution carrera track but it doesn't tell you that you need all of the extra accessories

When the Carrera Wireless Controllers arrived I was excited and looked forward to using them with my grandkids until I found that there was a piece of equipment that had a connector on it that I had nothing to plug it in to. Then upon doing more research I found that I needed yet more equipment to actually make the wireless controllers work. I had already spent $131 on the wireless controllers and now I needed to spend over $100 for more equipment to make them work. I was bummed and sent them back.

Wireless is the way to go. Definitely help when you have to move to recover a car.

As with all Carrera items, very expensive cheap plastic item. It was less expensive to buy 2 of these units than it was to buy additional wireless controllers/ batteries/ docking stations. Does work very well. Should really be included with all sets and not as an after market.
