Upgrading from a rebel xti I'm very happy with this purchase. I bought all my glass before getting decent body. I was split between this and the 6D. I do wish it was better in low light but it has other features that make up for it. Don't get me wrong it is still a good performer in low light. I can live using my 580 exii flash for those low light moments. I don't shoot weddings therefore I don't have such a necessity for full frame. This camera has a very decent 7 frames a second. The touch screen is excellent and acts just as a smart phone. The fact that it articulates in every direction is also a plus for those overhead shots or video. The wireless function is also nice for viewing pictures and deleting them in the field without a computer or having to hold the camera. It also comes in handy for sharing pictures on-the-go. Another nice feature is that it's not as heavy as the 7D or the 5D. Overall this camera is hard to beat at this price level given all the features it offers. I have it paired with a 24-105 f4L which has come to life off of the rebel. My 70-200 f2.8L is ii now has a camera attached to it since it only had a "Glorified lens cap" with the xti. I have not tired my 50mm 1.4 or my 18-200. I know I won't be disappointed. I got some amazing shots of my family on our last vacation and hope to capture many more moments.

After the initial use and transition from the 7D I purchased at Amazon I liked the camera. However, and unfortunately, I did not try every feature of the camera immediately.A few weeks ago I started to do some video work with the 70D on a jib purchased at Amazon, and tried to port the video from the camera to a Lilliput monitor I purchased at Amazon. I found that the HDMI cables, all purchased at Amazon, seem to wobble a bit in the HDMI socket in the Canon 70D, causing an unstable, staticky screen on the monitor. I tried several cables. I even tried it on an HDTV, but the cable constantly moves in the port of the camera causing an issue.Amazon said they would refund, and I could repurchase, but I no longer have the boxes to ship back all of the parts. They suggested I call the manufacturer and assured me they would help.Calling Canon, I discovered that despite having a one year warranty, they will not honor it because Beach Camera is not one of their authorized distributors, and I will have to pay upwards to $150 or more for a repair, and be without the camera for weeks.I'm at a loss here with all these big company rules.Update: April 10th 2016:After many emails back and forth with Amazon, with them offering a 30% refund if I keep the camera, or a total refund if I don't, and replying that I did not have any of the original packaging to return it and never getting a reply as to how I should exactly return the camera to them, I am still sitting with the dysfunctional camera that is now working worse than ever, and no refund!During an important family event yesterday, the camera would not fire my external flash (Canon 580 EXII, fresh batteries, works on other cameras that I just confirmed today) causing a loss of some very important photos.Since my first posting, Beach Camera had emailed me asking for a review and comments and when I replied to them with all the issues I'm having, I've heard nothing from them.Will follow up with both Amazon and Beach now since I'm still only 8 months into what should be a one year warranty.

Settings dial does not match manual provided with camera. I am not sure what the letters on the settings dial mean.

What can be written about this camera, that hasn't already been written? If your looking at this camera, then you've YouTubed the heck out of the internet, you've already decided on which lenses you going for. In my research, for photography it's either this or the Nikon 7100, with the Nikon arguably slightly better. For videography, their isn't much, if anything on the market close that does the job as this does. That said, you already know this, and there is so much out there to prove it. So if your looking at this deal, then your interested in the card, bag and kits all for less than the retail body only price.So what are my thoughts having bought this package? Good seller, very good deal, the bag is ok, nothing special but a bag none the less, the card is a class 10 card, I've been told that some have gotten "Fujifilm" I got a Sony class 10. lens cleaner is nothing exciting, so there you have it. Do you get this, or the camera body only from canon? I had a 40d for 6 years until shutter went recently , so even though I didn't really have the money ,I'm so glad I went with 70d over the lesser Canon camera that's out there. Even though I'm just an amateur hobbyist , I do take thousands of photos , and I really love the quality of the photos and the also the amount of megapixels which enables me to crop closer some of my small bird photos . I have not tried the video yet . so far I found every else to just what I expected . I'm not a big tech guy, although i really cant give advice about the specs ,I do like the FPS , the different focal point features, and the touchscreen menu so far . all improved from my 40 d , but having a 70d definitely gives a professional feel for a decent price. I know its not the equipment that makes a photo , but this camera sure helps

Canon 70D has a widely reported defect focusing through the viewfinder when using wider apertures below f/4.0 or so. The internet is full of studies and tests which confirm the camera defect, but Canon has not yet acknowledged it for recall. There are no reported solutions. I have too many disappointing photos shot with wide apertures and camera is very unreliable on focusing. Not the camera for a serious photographer intending to use fast glass and the viewfinder. Apparently fine for those using kit lens.
