OLDSHANGHAIWomen's Silk Kimono Robe Long - Handpainted

I'm so glad that I found this robe for the morning of my upcoming wedding! I spent hours (too many to count) searching for a robe that is both comfortable and beautiful for the sake of our getting-ready pictures. At first, all I could find were ultra-soft bathrobes that are stylistically boring, or pretty robes that are super short and thus uncomfortable. Most companies seem to focus on short robes for brides and bridesmaids. I've ordered 5 more of the Old Shanghai silk kimonos for my bridesmaids and I don't want any of us to feel like we can't sit down comfortably because our robes are like miniskirts! I don't know why anyone buys the short kind! The Old Shanghai kimonos have everything: they come in both long and short styles; the silk feels amazing on your skin; the designs are gorgeous; and, to top it off, they're unique. I didn't find anything like this during my many google and Etsy searches. My bridesmaids will be able to wear these for years to come! My only concern is that I will get makeup or drink stains on my white robe...But, I felt compelled to get a white one for myself (teal for the rest) since I will be using it in my capacity as a bride!

It only ties on the right side, so the left falls apart while the belt does it's best to hold it in place. I'm 5'11" and it isn't really made for tall people like me. I'm keeping it though. It will be lovely for summertime. Gorgeous artwork on it. It's definitely silk and will need to be dry cleaned. Besides the need for another tie on the left and the fact it's not long (these are sized for Asian standards, which is very lean and very short)... Otherwise I love it. Keeping it in spite of the minor issues I have with it.

when I saw the mm weight of the fabric I thought..well I better buy the black one. Glad I did. You can hold it up and see through it in places. The peacock design is very nice but doesn't look hand painted, although I can't be sure so I won't say yes or no on that. It says one size fits most..I wear a ladies 12 and it just fits me so if you are larger I would not purchase. It is soft and pretty though. I do intend to keep it for summer use.

Couldn't have asked for better. Quality, design, fit, etc, everything was perfect.

I just received my robe - white Cherry Blossom and I am very happy with the appearance and impressed by the quality of the fabric however I am slightly disapointed because as soon as I tried it on my offset tie ripped off. For the price this product should not be falling appart especially right out of the box. Other than that sizing is good too I am 5'5" 130lbs and length is perfect as well as fit. Now I may ask for an exchange as the offset tie needs to be neatly sewn in into the stiching and I may not be able to accomplish that repair myself.

Very nice vivid colors and brush-work, just as advertised! However, there is a bit of size issue because inner and outer ties are way too high which I think was due to this robe being made for smaller/shorter woman (I am 5'9"/150 lbs). If you've got curves you may find it difficult to keep it close in the front. It is really modeled for small bone women. I love it otherwise - will have to redo ties myself, that's all.

The garment itself is beautiful and feels good on my skin. The big problem - the robe easily opens when I walk and also when I sit down. I'm a size 8 with a small/medium chest. The robe covers me fine if I'm standing, but when I walk, the garment opens up as if it was designed to have a long slit to reveal my legs. There is an inner tie that helps to keep one part of the robe close to my body, but the outer one is only held secure by the belt. Because the whole garment is silk (and therefore slippery), and because there is no anchor /tie other than the belt to hold the outer flap closed and secure to the left side of my body, the edge of the outer flap ends up continuously slipping so that the outer flap lands on the center of my body. This means there's minimal overlap from the inner and outer layers of the robe, and hence I've got a robe that exposes my legs (and me to the cold). I'm really disappointed.

What an amazing Kimono! I really didn't expect it to be so amazing! Soft, vibrant, just the right length and beautifully made. I feel so special wearing it. A great Bride's gift! It fits true to size...roomy but not too much. Best part..or one of the best parts is you can hand wash, line dry and it is still soft, wrinkle free and beautiful! Christmas is coming! I can't imagine a woman who wouldn't love one of these. Arrives super quickly too!
