First off: if you are genuinely looking to start pointe, be sure that you have been approved by your teachers and that you are professionally fitted! Secondly: I ordered these purely for experimentation and, was hoping, that I could use the soft shank to build some strength, but they run so unbelievably small both in the box and in the length that even sizing up twice was not completely to solve the problem. These can be fun if you're just looking for some cute ballet shoes for your small dancers for a costume, but even then I highly encourage you to purchase either ballet slippers and sew on ribbons for the look, or to buy Demi pointe shoes, but absolutely not real pointe shoes for playing in unless the child has dance and ballet training. Pointe shoes can be extremely dangerous if you are not ready for them, and you can do something as serious as break your ankle, or even rip muscles in the bottom of your feet(in the arch) so please, do not get these for costume play! Go to a website like discount dance or sodanca and order canvas ballet slippers and ribbons for very young dancers, or semi pointe shoes if the child is slightly older if all you want these for is the look. However, if you are classically trained, these can be good for building muscle if you know what you're doing, but size up a lot, especially if you have a high instep, a wide foot, or both. Much better than I was expecting given what I paid. I bought these for my grand daughter, who has just started dance, to play in, and to get used to the toe box before moving to point in a couple of years. They are really well made and the bow on the toe box tighted the slipper up just right for her foot. The ribbon are well attached and give way more support than I would have thought they would. I was expecting a cheaper version of Pointe shoes for this price, but these are actual pointe shoes. Just tiny. Quite impressed.

Runs smaller than expected.

Ribbon came detached after two days, contacted seller they suggested to refund $5 and me take it to get fixed, I had already bought a replacement and notified them and that was still their response, horrible seller/customer service, daughter loved them till the ribbon broke off. I will be returning, look for different seller or save your money.
