Yoga for Beginners is for the student looking to learn the practice of yoga. As a yoga teacher, Julie Montagu wanted to create a series that would help the beginner learn the basics of yoga. In this three-part programme, you will flow through postures at a steady, achievable pace, allowing you to align your breath with movement. Each 20 minute session is focused on a theme consisting of Basic Flow, Warrior Flow or Stability Flow. You may choose to practise one of the 3 x 20 minute sections or you may complete the entire routine. Yoga for Beginners is designed to build strength, flexibility and stamina in the body while teaching you the foundations of a yoga practice. It's good if your just starting Yoga.
This is a no nonsense yoga video. Good instructions on positions and breathing.

Not ideal for people new to Yoga.
The instructions on this DVD are gabbled far too quickly for a novice to comprehend, and the exercises/poses are far too advanced for a novice. Someone just starting out would be scared stiff by seeing the instructor bending double in the first minute or two. Other Yoga instructional videos contain advice, such as to only attempt what you feel comfortable with; this one plunges straight into very difficult poses. I cannot, in all honesty, recommend this DVD for beginners; more advanced enthusiasts might find it helpful.

More a case of what a beginner cab aspire to!
Well demonstrated and nicely broken down into manageable chunks. However it is stretching belief that a beginner can match Ms Montagu's flexibility! It might be helpful to know of easier options for those of us who do not possess such a good sense of balance or ability to touch our extremities without cheating a little!

Anything but for beginners!
I don't normally write reviews, as frankly I just can't be chewed lol, but I felt I needed to for this DVD.....This DVD is anything but for beginners! I bought it for my dad and I, as about a year ago we started doing some basic Yoga using YouTube videos and then I did a Yoga course for beginners and so I thought it'd be good to get a DVD for beginners for us. However, like I say, this is anything but for beginners! It's most definitely for intermediate level, at least! I mean, some of the poses she expects you to 'just simply' get into are unbelievable! Particularly the pose where she lifts her leg backwards 180 degrees into the air - I mean, is she having a giraffe!? Also, the speed in which she moves from one pose into another is way too fast! By the time, you've got yourself into one pose, she's moved into the next one! Unfortunately, we were very disappointed :-( I've kept it, as frankly I just couldn't be chewed with returning it and it'll come in handy when I'm a pro 'n' all ;-) Hence why I've given it 2 stars and not 1 star.

I really enjoy this cd. There are days that I just want to do a quick and relaxing practice and this is perfect for those days. Julie's voice is very calming and she is very easy to follow.
