Can't beat the quality for the money
I bought this dinnerware set because I wanted something that looked nice when I had company over and did not want to spend $180 on a 16-piece dinerware set before knowing the brand. I also bought this dinnerware set because I looked on eBay and used sets seemed to retain their value. The set is absolutely beautiful and I fall more and more in love with it each day. I'll buy the more expensive Red Vanilla dinnerware sets later down the road as I have fallen in love with the brand. The set is very sturdy and is bone china. If you are a vegeterian or vegan read up on bone china before purchasing. My only complaint is that the coffee cups are small[ish] but that seems standard with dinnerware sets. For an explanation of the difference between porcelain, stoneware and bone china please read below (courtesy of marck09000)_________________________________________________________Dinnerware is made of several substrates, but most often seen is porcelain, stoneware (ceramic), and bone china. With distinct differences between them, they are important to know before purchasing for your home or business.First, vitrification must be explained. Ceramic ware is considered "vitrified" if it will absorb less than 0.2 percent of its own weight. This means the surface is smooth and glass-like, creating a hard, extra durable surface. The pieces are microwavable and dishwasher safe, resistant to breakage and chipping.Porcelain ware is made of kaolin clay. Kaolin is a white clay that retains its white color when fired. It is fired at temperatures in excess of 1,300 degrees Celsius and is more fully vitrified than stoneware. It is usually covered with a clear glaze, which allows the white color to show. The fired color tends to be more of a "cool" white. Porcelain becomes vitrified during the second firing of a two fire process, and the finish tends to be harder. Therefore, porcelain tends to be finer quality than stoneware.Stoneware differs from Porcelain not only in color, but the way it is fired. Where Porcelain becomes vitrified during the second firing (second firing is hotter than first firing), Stoneware is vitrified during a single firing, which the temperature is a little less than used for Porcelain. The resulting finish is warmer in color than Porcelain. An easy way to tell Porcelain from Stoneware is to turn a piece upside down; where the bottom rim is, Porcelain will be white, showing the color of the clay, whereas Stoneware will be a natural color with a colored glaze on top.Bone China is made using a translucent white ceramic clay containing at least 25 percent bone ash. Bone China tends to be slightly translucent in nature and is often used in thin walled pieces, exhibiting a delicate, refined look.Porcelain or stoneware pieces are a wise choice for home or business use for durability and versatility. Bone China pieces may be left for special occasions if needed. It is best to consider your usage and budget before purchasing items for your home or business, and make an educated choice for your dinnerware.I will be purchasing the more expensive Red Vanilla dinnerware sets when I have the money.

Very Pleased
I had ordered 2 sets of dishes (service for 8) and the completer set, consisting of a large platter, serving bowl and creamer and sugar bowl). Everything arrived in perfect condition...no breakage. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the items were packed...several layers of very heavy cardboard! The dishes have a nice weight to them and a very glossy finish. The dinner plates fit very nicely in my cabinet, and the soup bowls are a very generous size....even good for a side dish of pasta!! The cups are a nice weight and size! Because of the finish, clean up is easy! There was only one thing I noticed...the dark brown edging on one of the bowls wasn't finished properly, so when it's stacked in the cupboard it looks like there is a big chip out of the side. When it's on the table and you're looking down at the bowl, you can't see the blemish, so it didn't bother me enough to send it back. So far, I really like these dishes, and I've been looking for a few months. The size of the bowls were important to me, as we love our pasta, and as I stated earlier, these bowls are a good size for a side of pasta!

Nice Stoneware set!!
I love this dinnerware setFirst of all they are Stoneware, one of my requirements, Stoneware wears better and is more sturdy than earthenware. I wanted something that would stand up to the dishwasher and the microwave. I chose this neutral color because I would like to add more colorful and unusual dishes and glassware to my table settings and I wanted the plates to be a neutral that would not clash with anything else I wanted to use. I am very happy with the "warm grey" body color and the black satin finish on the rims of this set and I have ordered more! The two sets I ordered are the same--they all stack evenly, and I haven't noticed any blemishes on either set. Both sets arrived in good time and were well packed. I would recommend this company to a friend/ family!!

Lovely and unique
Just perfect! I wanted some neutral dishes but also unique and durable. And not stark white! These dishes are offwhite with a slight design and texture. They are so right. The shapes of the dinner and salad plates, the design and texture, the unusual soup dishes, the cups you really want to drink from because they're more like mugs than the dainty little cups that usually come with sets. Not something you see on everybody's table. This is what I like. And they seem sturdy. OK, I've only washed them in the dishwasher prior to using and used them once. But I loved them at first sight. I'd looked at lots of dishes. These caught my eye and I have no regrets. I ordered 12 place settings (gotta allow for breakage and the style no longer being produced, you know)! So far so good. I'll edit my review later if necessary, but I don't think I'll have to.

Not bad, not bad at all
Pretty good looking, although the rice pattern is not quite as subtle as I thought it would be from the pictures that are provided. It is nice regardless, but the mugs pattern ends abruptly where the handle meets the cup which looks a bit off and the bowls really are shallow, I have often used them as the plate whenever I eat a meal with rice.I will try to remember to upload photos

bowls are shallow
I like the dishes...the pattern in the white is very subtle, and the high gloss gives them a distinct look. The dinner and salad plates are the same size and shape as the old set I am replacing, but the bowls are quite shallow for cereal. My husband has cereal everyday of the world, and after just one use with milk sloshing out, he refused to give them another try. Luckily I had some backup bowls he can use. I don't mind the bowls for salads, etc, but not too great for other things...they are good looking, however. (haven't tried soup yet...)

Good value
Nice pattern - not solid white but a tiny pebbled pattern to add interest. Dishes are a good shape and size - not too large.

Fantastic Buy!!!
Fantastic Buy!!! See review of the Red Vanilla Back Rice. Nice touch with the White Rice is the subtle tan highlights on the ridges in the interior of the pieces.

is a plate really just a flattened bowl...?
The product is nicely made, but it is not white as it appears. It is a beige colour, and when you put food on a beige plate someone kicks a puppy.
