Basic full thickness sweatpants
These sweats are nice and thick and roomy. Plush inside. Warm and soft. The light grey I purchased doesn’t seem to attract pet hair—or at least doesn’t show it. Washes well. Deep enough pockets. Great price.

Nice
Super nice for the price range. Very comfortable, the only problem I had was the sizing. They were extremely long. Waist was perfect though.

Good fit except for (stupid) foot and a half deep crotch, pockets don't flare out
Russell Athletic Men's Dr-Power Fleece Open Bottom Pocket Pant$ 16.99 purchaseMe: 49 yo, 6' - 0" (183cm), 200 lbs (90.7 kg), 36" (91.4cm) waist, 34" (86.4) inseam, 7" (8cm) rise.Sweat Size MeasurementsSize: L - G - GWaist: 30" (76.2 cm), unstretched.Waistband is moderately wide 1 3/4" (4.5 cm).Rise: 15.5" (39.4 cm)Inseam: 31" (78.7 cm)Outseam: 42.5" (108 cm)Cuff: 9" (23 cm)Cuff is open; not elastic shrunk to ankles.Pockets are deeper than other sweats I tested. They're well positioned and do not flare out making hips look wider. I really like this design feature compared to other sweat pants pockets which flare out doubling the appearance of your hip width. These do not do that.Drawstring is the lazy manufacturer type, single-cord, inside the pants, which requires a loop type knot to hold them tighter. The loop type knot is a complete PITA to untie when you want to open the knot and loosen the drawstring. The cord used for the waistband drawstring is a type that really ties into a tight knot. Why all manufacturers cannot cut the drawstring so that it can be tied like a shoe is a mystery.General quality impression: These sweats look good when you're wearing them (except for the long crotch drop in front of the pants). The color (black) looks great. The stitching quality was normal/good. I didn't wash them yet, so I don't know how they hold up through several washings. I do not use a dryer for most clothes so that they last longer and the color stays solid. After I've washed these several times I'll get back here and update this.Pros: Nice cut and fit (except for massively deep crotch). Looks good with pockets that don't flare out. Open bottoms are nice and prevent baggy blousing at the ankles. I'm white and so don't have a butt and these look much better than some manufacturer's sweats which turn a white ass into an office ass looking square box. These don't do that--Kudos Russell.Cons: MASSIVELY DEEP CROTCH. Why does a pair of (any) pants need to be pulled up to your chin so that the crotch fits? These Russell sweat pants have a crotch that is literally a foot and a half deep. I measured the rise from the bottom of my crotch, in a straight line, to the bottom of my waist (while laying flat) and it is 6 to 7 inches (15.2 to 17.8 cm) -- so with these sweats (size large), there is a compete foot (12" (30.5 cm)) of extra material before the waist is reached. Stupid. Why do we need to pay $ 70 for work out pants to get a fit that looks good with a true inseam and a true rise so that there is not a foot of pants bagging below the crotch? Can't manufacturers like Russell buy a pair of really good fitting work out pants and then unstitch them to see the measurements and then recreate the pattern so that $ 5, $ 10, $ 15 sweats look good? If I had the capital I'd start a $ 10 "tailored" sweats company so that no matter your dimensions the pair of sweats would look good proportionally on your frame.Summary: For the price these are good, not great. I"m keeping them because compared to the other sweat pants these have a better fit (albeit, not counting the horrible mile deep crotch). I'll cut the drawstring loop so that I can tie these like shoes.

Soft and comfortable, look great, fits 36" inseam!
Looped tie string inside the wasteband prevents string from disappearing into the hem! Very to find any kind of pants that fit my 36-in inseam. These XXL pants fit perfectly. Tried them on and immediately bought a second pair!

Review of 10 Pairs of Sweatpants
I waited almost a year to post this review to see if my initial conclusion was correct. Essentially it was. The bottom line is the Polo Ralph Lauren French Rib pants fit and feel the best of any pants. Unfortunately, they’re expensive and not available on Amazon. However, there are some pairs available on auction sites for reasonable prices. The next best is between the U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Fleece Cargo Pant and the Champion Men's Champion Eco Open Bottom Pant. The problem with the U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Fleece Cargo is that they pill a lot and because they’re made of nylon they don’t breathe well if at all. The problem with the Champion is they’re a bit long, a bit baggy and the waist is a bit big. The rest of them aren’t even worth trying. I’m looking forward to some affordable, high quality, great fitting sweat pants. Unfortunately, they don’t exist at the moment. Interesting note, I initially bought all the pants in size large, but they all seemed to fit a bit too tight not only in the waist but throughout the whole let as well. I like my sweatpants loose fitting so I reordered them all in XL and made my conclusions based on that.Polo Ralph Lauren French RibThey are 100% cotton, which is extremely hard to find. They may be the heaviest of all the pants (not necessarily good or bad), the most naturally soft (cotton soft compared to nylon “fleece” soft), and the best fit (loose, but not too loose, definitely not tight) throughout the waist and legs, and a good length (long enough that you may walk on the back of them when you’re not wearing shoes). The inseam is very low however. That is the one thing I would change. I’d raise the inseam up by 2 inches.U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Fleece Cargo Pant, Black, LargeNOT AFFILIATED WITH POLO RALPH LAUREN CORP.U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Fleece Cargo PantNice fitting pants, but they’re 100% nylon “fleece” which have pilled horribly over a year and static cling often. Also, nylon pants don’t breathe well and cause an uncomfortable and unnecessary sweat.U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Classic Fleece Pant, Dark Grey Heather, LargeNOT AFFILIATED WITH POLO RALPH LAUREN CORP.U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Classic Fleece PantCompared to the cargo version of these they fit much tighter.Champion Men's Champion Eco Open Bottom Pant, Oxford Gray, LargeChampion Men's Champion Eco Open Bottom PantA bit too long and a bit too loose in the waist.Champion Men's Champion Eco Relaxed Band Pant, Oxford Gray, LargeChampion Men's Champion Eco Relaxed Band PantTighter than the open bottom version and I dislike the band at the bottom of the leg.Jerzees 974MP 8 oz. 50/50 Open Bottom Fleece Pant-Large-OxfordNuBlend Open Bottom Sweatpant with PocketI kept these. They are a nice loose fit, but the material hasn’t held up as well as the Champion.Russell Athletic Men's Athletic Open-Bottom Pant, Black Heather, Large Russell Athletic Men's Cotton Performance Open Bottom PantThese are very light pants. In fact, I kept them because they were so light. The size large fits like an XL compared to all the other pants. I rarely wear these because they’re so light.Russell Athletic Men's Heavyweight Fleece Open-Bottom Pant - CD1 - LRussell Athletic Men's Heavyweight Fleece Open-Bottom PantThe waist band of even the XXL is unbelievable tight. This must be a design flaw. It’s unfortunate too because the material was nice and heavy.Russell Athletic Men's Dri-Power Open Bottom Fleece Pocket Pant, Black Heather, LargeRussell Athletic Men's Dr-Power Fleece Open Bottom Pocket PantThese fit tight compared to the others. The inseam is higher up as well. Also, it’s an odd feeling material that I don’t care for.Fruit of the Loom 8 oz 50/50 Adult Open Bottom Sweatpants in Athletic Heather – LargeFruit of the Loom 51300R 50/50 Fleece Pant with Mesh PocketsThese also fit tight compared to the others. The pockets were oddly short. In person you can tell they’re low quality.
