HIghly Effective and Durable
Like other reviewers, I had to get the knack of this item, but within 10 - 15 caps I was using it like a pro. It has a considerably different "action" from the cheap, plastic cappers from the LHS, but once acclimated, I'm of the opinion it is a much better mechanical design. Also seems just so much beefier, and feels like it should last for years.

It’s perfect!
Used to bottle homemade beer. First time I used one of these. Used to have the screw on plastic bottles. No problems using it. Like other reviews said, just put some pressure on it when you push down. It’s not like you push down to break the glass but just a bit. Good product. Easy to use

Sturdy but a bit touchy
I wanted another capper as a backup to my heavy plastic one. It would not do to have it break on bottling day and not have a way to crimp caps on.This one does seem to be very sturdy. It is heavier than I thought it was going to be.The action felt a bit rough at first, until I put a drop of vegetable oil on each joint and pivot point and worked it a few times. I also wiped the inside of the bell with veggie oil to help release caps. The only downside so far, which I hope will improve with practice, is that it is capable of bending a cap and rendering it useless if it is not perfectly aligned on the bottle. It happened a couple of times while bottle a batch of 40, yet I have never had this issue with the other capper (it has its own issues).

Sturdy and easy to use....caps the bottles
I preferred this option to the many plastic version. have to believe that it will outlast the plastic versions. it is well made and can take a lot of downward pressure when capping. capped a case of homebrew quickly. very satisfield.

It actually works, confused at first, read for the real key to make it work.
When I first was plating with this, I was confused as to how it works. I almost thought it was broken when I first tried it.Then I realized the red plastic is supposed to grip the bottle neck below the second lip/grove. There's the lip that the cap grabs onto and the one that is below it, that is where you want the red plastic to grip in order to press the cap on. Once the cap is pressed on, if you pull up on the press hard enough, the center plugger on the crimper pushes the cap out. Try this before using to see it work. See pics.

You make have to do some fitting
Almost returned the capper due to it not clearing the sides my American style champagne bottles. Problem is the plastic on the sides being over molded and the handles/clamp having a low range of movement. So if you're using champagne bottles you're gonna have to trim the end points on the inner plastic liner just to clear the ring lip.On the bright side, it creates a good seal and is pretty sturdy. Downside is the clearance on the capper is bad.If the manufacturer expanded the clamps range, on the x-axis, this capper would be much better and would store much easier.

Not a broken bottle
It some getting used to. I found that if I bent over the bottle that the capper was easier to use. After capping, the tool didn't readily release from the cap. I found that if I sealed the cap and pulled up sharply on the handles that it did release easily. Just make sure the the bottle doesn't go flying. And like I said, I didn't break one bottle in the 50 that I capped.

Good capper
Bought as a replacement. This is my third capper. The last two were plastic, so I wanted something more robust. This is well made, heavy duty capper. Only issue I had was the magnet fell out after about a hundred caps. I glued it back in and have done a few hundred caps without issue. As others have stated it takes a bit of getting used to. You have to be pretty rough to get the cap crimped and to get the capper to release.
