Riverside: Wasteland (Deluxe)

This isn't meant to be a detailed review - at the same time as buying this, I got 'Third Degree' by Flying Colours.I got the free mp3 of the latter and immediately started playing it - boy, oh boy. Bland. Tedious. Nothing intrinsically unharmonic or discordant about it but it seemed to be a band putting a release together with little inspiration.Two days later, this Riverside CD arrives and I'm spellbound with the creativity here. A conceptual series of tracks about an apocalyptic disaster and aftermath, this works on so many levels.And then I look at the Amazon ratings for both of these albums and I can't believe that they score virtually the same.As someone has said in these reviews, what's so sad is that this album will probably not get bought much - it just isn't that popular. And yet, 'Third Degree' will do.All I can say is put this first if you're a Prog Rock fan - the entire album is mesmerizing.

Wow, this is incredible. Their best album with gorgeous melodies, singing, arrangements, musical passages and great intelligent musical riffing. Well done guys.
